BASF is currently building a new Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province. Announced in July 2018 and officially commenced in November 2019, BASF Zhanjiang Verbund Site Project would be operated under the sole responsibility of BASF. BASF Zhanjiang Verbund site would ultimately be built into a role model for smart manufacturing and sustainable production by utilizing the digital technologies and applying the high safety standards.

What you can expect

• Join our Digital Laboratory Support Team and help us shaping the future of BASF laboratories. Analytics, material science and quality control laboratories are key to develop, test and ensure top quality of BASF products from the drawing board to the commercial product.

• Helping labs to automatically get their data from their lab instruments to information managing systems such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), CDS (Chromatography Data System), ELJ (Electronic Lab Journal) while ensuring data confidentiality, integrity and availability is what is driving us each day.

• Join the Digital Laboratory product family to support our laboratory digitization initiatives in China, the candidate will help finding and implementing digital solutions to address laboratory challenges.

Main tasks

• Engage with the stakeholders to understand the requirements and expectations.

• Conduct analysis and provide resolution of incidents in Labs e.g. around lab infrastructure or lab applications such as LIMS or CDS.

• Installing PC's & software, connecting instruments and PC’s to the network.

• Documenting incidents in Service Now and document solutions in central knowledge repositories (e.g. confluence)

• Have direct interaction and feedback to the affected users.

• Communication with rest of the digital laboratory team in China, Globally or other global digitalization teams from corporate IT.

• Driving & Managing small projects in the Digital Lab environment.

• Consulting IBP's on digital solutions in the lab environment.

• Consulting IBP's on security measures in the lab environment.

What we expect

• Bachelor or above in Information Technology, Computer science or Science degree in one of several disciplines: chemistry, biology, physics, pharmacy or equivalent through experience.

• At least 5 years of proven IT support experience, demonstrate knowledge of research processes, laboratory workflows and scientific data management.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills (English), willingness to engaging across the organization and be available to customers and colleagues.

• Understanding of cyber-security basic principles and segregated IT network concepts.

• Familiar with agile methodologies.

• Creative and communicative person with a well-organized and solution-oriented working style.

• Working knowledge with common applications used in labs such as LIMS (preferably from vendor Labvantage or Labware), Chromatography Data System (CDS, preferably Openlab from Agilent), Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN), Chemical Inventory Systems and Statistical Process Control software, is a plus.
