Westchester Jewish Community Services Medical Assistant in Yonkers, New York

Location & Overview:

Westchester Jewish Community Services (WJCS) is currently seeking a full-time Medical Assistant. The main roles of this position include the following: obtaining and keeping up to date outside medical records; triaging medical concerns and requests for medications raised outside of psychiatric appointments; assisting with scheduling of psychiatric and nursing appointments. Proficiency in speaking both English and Spanish is preferred. The position is based in our outpatient mental health clinic located in Yonkers, NY. Work will be a hybrid schedule supporting all WJCS clinics.

We deliver outpatient mental health services through four main clinics located in the Yonkers, Mt. Vernon, Hartsdale, and Peekskill communities of Westchester. We work collaboratively with a full multidisciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, social workers, residential managers, home health aides, and peer support specialists.   • Salary Range: $45,000-$50,000/year.

Typical Duties:

  • Obtain and keep up to date outside medical records, such as discharge summaries, physical exams, and lab results.

  • Triage medical concerns and requests for medications raised outside of psychiatric appointments.

  • Make reminder calls for all appointments with psychiatric and nursing staff, including for injections.

  • Assist with scheduling of psychiatric and nursing appointments.

  • Complete prior authorizations for medications when requested.

  • Coordinate care with outside pharmacies and providers.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant Certificate from an accredited program preferred.

  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

  • High School diploma required; college degree preferred.

  • Prior experience in a similar role a plus.
