Sensata Technologies, Inc. Project Engineer in Yokohama, Japan

The Project Engineer is responsible for leading projects in relation with introduction of new product development, new production processes, process improvement, cost reduction programs, quality improvement programs to enable successful launch of products. They will monitor a program from project initiation through delivery, and organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the program on schedule and within budget constraints.

Specific Tasks

  • Participate in all aspects of assigned programs throughout project lifecycles to ensure completion within the defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints

  • Ensure successful completion of project tasks and requirements in a timely and effective manner

  • stimate the costs, resources, and time required to complete a project, and monitor activities to ensure these targets are met.

  • Apply change, risk and resource management

  • Resolve projects' issues

  • Assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

  • Lead project meetings and produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle

Minimum requirements include:

  • Hands-on experience in a Program/Project management role or 2-5 years

  • BSc in an engineering discipline

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Negotiation skills and ability to drive decision making and to achieve goal

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

  • communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

International travel once a year and domestic travel once a month expected

Preferred requirements include:

  • Financial acumen on basic P&L, cost accounting, forecasting & budgeting and cash flow analyses

  • Experience in automotive industry

Brief Description

The PMT Dept is responsible for leading projects for automotive applications in relation to new product development, revised and improved production processes, cost reduction, and quality improvement; and for managing product lifecycle and phase out. They will monitor a program from project initiation through delivery, and organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the program on schedule and within budget constraints.

The Project Manager is responsible for the development and execution of a portfolio of projects and programs for the organization. You will be responsible for ensuring that every aspect of the program is completed on time and within budget and also act as a liaison between the individuals working on the program and key stakeholders.

Specific Tasks include;

  • Participate in all aspects of assigned programs throughout project lifecycles to ensure completion within the defined scope, quality, time and cost constraints

  • Ensure successful completion of project tasks and requirements in a timely and effective manner

  • Estimate the costs, resources, and time required to complete a project, and monitor activities to ensure these targets are met.

  • Resolve projects' issues

  • Assess program strengths and identify areas for improvement.

  • Lead project meetings and produce accurate and timely reporting of program status throughout its life cycle

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements include:

  • Hands-on experience in a Program/Project management role or 2-5 years experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Design or Process Engineering

  • BSc in an engineering discipline

  • Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Negotiation skills and ability to drive decision making and to achieve goal

  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
