Position: Certified Welding Inspector

SandME seeks an individual passionate about ensuring the structural integrity of steel to join our NDE/NDT team in Wilmington, NC as a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

What You Will Do:

As a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), you'll play a crucial role in visually inspecting structural steel, including bolted and welded connections, where no two days are the same. You'll be engaged in fieldwork that may involve safely climbing steel structures such as buildings, cell phone towers, and water tanks to heights exceeding 200 feet, using fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems.

• Conducting field inspections and non-destructive testing to maintain the highest standards of quality.
• Coordinating testing assignments across diverse projects, contributing to the success of each endeavor.
• Maintaining and managing testing equipment, ensuring operational efficiency.
• Preparing detailed reports to communicate findings effectively.
• Demonstrating flexibility, as overtime, evening, and weekend work may be required during peak project periods.

Position will require 50+ hour work weeks (during periods of peak workload), as well as off-shift and weekend work, as required.

Who You Are:

• You have a High School Diploma/GED
• You have at least 3 years metals testing experience or an associate degree
• You have an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification
• You have achieved ASNT Level II certification per ASNT-SNT-TC-1A in at least one method
• You have Safety, DDC, NDT, and Radiation Training
• You have experience in the use of fall protection equipment and personal fall arrest systems

Preferred Certifications:

• ICC certification in Building Inspections and/or Structural Steel Inspection
• Level II for UT certification
• Level II for PT, MT certifications

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:

• Ability to climb heights in excess of 200 feet
• Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
• Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
• Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
• Working outside of normal business hours when necessary

This i a full-time position with competitive pay based on experience.
