Radar Systems Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radar System and Effectiveness Evaluation Engineer to join our team and provide critical design data to several product lines related to Reentry Vehicle technologies. In this role, you will be responsible evaluating radar and optical signatures for various observables and categorize them in terms of operating characteristic curves. Evaluation of circular or elliptical polarized radar for transmit and receive multidirectional functions will be necessary, as well as evaluation of typical force penetration effectiveness studies. Responsibilities also will include evaluating the effectiveness of radar pulse compression and selection of waveforms in the presence of clutter and model observable signatures as Gaussian variables with defined means and variances. Knowledge of electronic approaches is desirable. Flight test measurement planning and design participation with materials and design elements necessary to achieve a specified signation will be part of the role.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate radar performance in multi-engagement environments.

  • Perform data reduction on radar and optical signatures.

  • Develop simulation programs to evaluate system.

  • Perform planning and monitoring to ensure work scope, schedule, budget, and program metrics are well defined, maintained, and met.

  • Lead and present key technical flight test tracking design plans and implementation approaches at Pretest Design Reviews, IRAD Reviews, and Customer Reviews.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, manufacturing, quality, contracts, finance, and testing, to coordinate project activities and ensure seamless integration.

  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address technical challenges and ensure project success.

  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including technical specifications, system requirements, white papers, technical memos, and progress reports.

  • Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in radar and optical system technologies and apply relevant knowledge to enhance project outcomes.

  • Support business line in development of strategic plans and technology roadmaps.

  • Develop technical volumes on proposals and manage technical bids.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in engineering roles with a focus on complex signature analysis and evaluation, signature management.

  • Demonstrated success in developing strong technical customer relationships.

  • Proven track record in leading the development of advanced technologies, preferably in the field of threat radar and optical systems.

  • Knowledge of system engineering principles, including system architecture and MBSE, requirements management, and verification/validation processes.

  • Ability to manage multiple evaluations concurrently.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multi-disciplinary team of Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineers fostering a culture of cooperation and innovation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to radar and optical systems development would be advantageous.
