Aero Structures Long Island, Inc. - Westbury, NY specializes in the machining of “build to print” complex structural components and highly complex assemblies for the aerospace industry.ASLI manufactures high quality structural and dynamic parts and assemblies for commercial and military aerospace programs. Today, we produce precision-machined and monolithic structural components and assemblies for a variety of programs, including the military aircrafts CH-47 Chinook, V-22 Osprey CH-53K, UH-60, E-2D, UH1Y and the F/A-18 Hornet fighters. Our commercial aircraft programs include the Boeing 767, and the Gulfstream G550 & G650.Position Summary:We are currently seeking an experienced and reliable CNC Machinist to join our production team. You will be expected to set up and operate 3, 4 or 5 Axis CNC Milling machines and machining centers for the production of parts and components for the commercial and military aerospace industry. Should be able to run two machines at a time when needed within time standards given. You will set up various tools and equipment to create or modify precision parts. During production, you must monitor the machinery and conduct regular quality checks to ensure they are running properly and that the parts are being produced according to specifications. Accuracy is crucial to our production, so all candidates must have attention to detail and be extremely focused on their work.Responsibilities:• Set up and run up to two machines to fabricate precision parts• Load and unload parts in the machine • Start the machining cycle• Follow sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup• Inspect dimensions of finished pieces• Change tooling as needed• Hold tight tolerance of +/- .0005• Meet quality standards and production schedules• Follows and adheres to organizational and OSHA safety policies and procedures• Local candidates only - no relocation provided Position Requirements:• High School Diploma or GED, college level machining classes and/or formal CNC training preferred• 5+ years of experience setting up and operating a 3 or 4-axis CNC Milling Machine. In lieu of experience, will consider entry level candidates who demonstrate interest and aptitude to learn the trade with preference give to those with a relevant technical Associate degree or CNC Machining certificate to start at an entry level.• Experience fabricating precision parts• Experience working to very close tolerances (+/- .0005)• Experience with reading blue prints for mechanical components• Experience inspecting parts and using inspection tools• Good aptitude for shop math• Experience with changing live tooling• Able to work in a fast paced environment and meet production schedule• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area• Able to stand for duration of shift, walk, push, reach overhead, bend to the floor and lift up to 50lbs• Ability to learn and understand and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.• Must be willing to work in a repetitive production environment with concern for meeting cost, quality and schedule requirements. The ability to work as a team player as well as independently is required.• Must be reliable and interested in full time steady employment• This opening is for the evening shift, which will be from 4:30pm - 3:30am, Monday to Friday. 2nd shift includes a 15% shift differential. We also have day shift opportunities. • U.S. Persons per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and SSA requirementsPay Range: $20.00 to $28.00 an hour, depending on experience.
