The Dockman is responsible for assisting the PIC with the safe transfer of product from the vessel to the terminal, terminal-to-terminal transfers, additive injections, and dockside security. South Florida Petroleum Services, LLC. Employees are expected to carry out their duties in a professional manner and always adhere to company guidelines.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Arrive at the work site 15 minutes before shift change to discuss watch relief, vessel or transfer status, manifold alignment, and any other pertinent issues.
  • Wear the proper SFPS-supplied uniform and issue safety equipment at all times when on the job.
  • Be eligible to operate company vehicles as necessary.
  • Assist the PIC in properly setting up the manifold system and/or hoses for product offload/transfer.
  • Ensure that sorbent has been properly placed in dock drains before transfer operations.
  • Inform the PIC of any breaches in security or activity out of the normal.
  • Ensure the gates are locked at all times.
  • Maintain a proper security watch and log ALL visitors and vehicles in the security log.
  • Conduct proper screening of visitors and vehicles onto the facility and ensure gates are always locked per SFPS Security Plan.
  • Conduct radio checks each hour during dock operations per PIC direction.
  • Conduct a dock walk for security and operational monitoring every 20 minutes.
  • Monitor manifold pressure during operational periods while on dock walks.
  • Maintain proper placement of flex booms between vessel and shore and monitor during periodic dock walks. The boom is to be removed and secured on completion of transfer operations.
  • Assist the PIC in additive injection operations.
  • Perform general maintenance, including painting, cleaning, weed eating, greasing valves, etc., per the daily/weekly maintenance checklist.
  • Notify the PIC or dock Foreman of any unsafe condition or needed repairs.
  • Keep the dock area in a clean and safe condition.
  • Ensure all tools and equipment are accounted for and properly stowed.
  • Assist in remote operations as necessary.
