Catholic Health Services Monitor Technician in West Islip, New York

Overview Good Samaritan University Hospital is a 537- bed (including 100 nursing home beds) teaching hospital and a member of Catholic Health. The Monitor Tech works under the supervision or direction of a Registered Nurse or other licensed personnel, and provides bedside patient care in the Emergency Room and is an integral part of the care team. The Monitor Tech must demonstrate behaviors consistent with Catholic Health's model of patient care. Job Details Responsibilities: Reading multiple telemetry monitors and Reports all cardiac rhythm changes to nursing &/or physician Troubleshooting alarms and adjust if indicated, with consultation of nursing &/or physician Remaining at central monitoring station unless otherwise directed by Charge Nurse, Nurse Manager or designee Documenting cardiac rhythm in EMR Ensuring all patients ordered for a telemetry monitor are on a monitor frequently. Appropriately perform phlebotomy and EKG’s as needed Collect and labels specimens, at patient's bedside Perform and documents quality control for point of care testing Maintain adequate supplies Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Paramedic or EMT CC preferred program or NA/ MA with ability to read to telemetry monitors Knowledge of computer systems and/or prior clerical experience preferred; Basic knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy; Strong communication skills, flexibility, and ability to prioritize work Min one-year phlebotomy experience Current BLS Salary Range USD $25.30 - USD $28.35 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
