Gun Lake Casino Security Officer in Wayland, Michigan
Position Summary:
The Security Officer II will rotate patrol and standing posts, transport and protect company funds, and respond to potential emergencies, medical incidents, disturbances, or requests for assistance. This role will ensure the safety and experience of Gun Lake Casino Resort Guests, Team Members, and vendors while promoting Gun Lake Casino Resort’s Four Diamond Standards.

In this Role:
Respond to and assist in all emergencies, including but not limited to, fires, medical emergencies, and criminal activity.
Patrol and observe all public areas, Team Member service areas, and company grounds for the safety of Guests and Team Members.
Have a working knowledge of, and enforce all applicable laws, policies, and procedures.
Respond to all disturbances in order to diffuse the incident. Be prepared to become involved in a physical altercation if necessary.
Always remain alert, observe, report, and take action as directed by the supervisor with respect to all suspicious, unusual situations.
Transport and protect company funds i.e. slot drops, table fills, and kiosk runs.
Document all incidents directed by the immediate supervisor.
Escort Team Members to and from their vehicles when requested. Jump-start Guests and Team Members' vehicles when needed.
Maintain daily log, i.e. time checks.
Perform exterior patrol of the property including the surface parking, parking structure, hotel lots, and Administration building in the Security vehicle and on foot.
Practice teamwork, support fellow Team Members, and create an energized, positive team-oriented work environment for all.
Interact with Guests in a friendly and courteous manner and handle all Guest opportunities.
Must have knowledge of SDS booklet location(s) for your area.
Ability to communicate effectively with Guests, Team Members, and Management in both written and verbal form.
Maintain excellent grooming and uniform standards.
Responsible for practicing, supporting, and always promoting Gun Lake Casino Resort’s Four Diamond Standards.
Other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Qualifications:
Must be 21+ years of age.
Must possess a High School Diploma or GED.
Customer service experience preferred.
Experience in Security, Law Enforcement, Military, Fire, EMS preferred.
Work Experience in the Gaming or Hospitality industry preferred.
Must be able to obtain a gaming license with the Gun Lake Tribal Gaming Commission and an Alcohol Awareness Card (TIPS).
Pass a Motor Vehicle Record Check required.
Must have a valid and unrestricted Driver’s License.
CPR/AED Certification required. If not currently certified, Gun Lake Casino Resort will provide certification.
Must be able to work under adverse conditions, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays, and testify in court on and off duty.
Physical Requirements:
Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color, and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers, and symbols.
Manual dexterity to operate job-related equipment.
Ability to subdue person(s) in altercations.
Ability to sit, walk, stand, run, and climb stairs for the duration of shift.
Ability to drag an unconscious person during an evacuation.
Ability to access all properties and areas.
Acute sense of smell and sound, and the ability to communicate using a two-way radio and telephone.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance.
Ability to read, write, and input data into the computer.
Ability to stoop, crouch, and kneel.
Work Conditions:
Work is typically in an area which may be unusually hot, cold, noisy, and may contain second-hand smoke. Work may be performed in small areas with a 3 ft. wide access. Tasks performed from a sitting or non-sitting position. Performance of job duties will require standing, walking, stairs, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping. These tasks include the maintenance and care of assigned areas. Work may entail trained chemical usage. Constant contact with fellow Team Members and Guests.
