Pathways is looking to add a Child Care Aide to our Your Child's Place Team! The Child Care Aide (CCA) works under the general supervision of the YCP Clinical Director and provides specialized early childhood work in the field of childcare services. The CCA is involved in creative implementation of a program that supports infants and children to meet the growth, learning, health needs and abilities of the children who attend Your Child's Place.

Some essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides daily supervision of infants and children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Provide direct care needs to infants and children as needed. Examples include but are not limited to: changing diapers, toileting, feeding, attending to personal hygiene needs, etc.
  • Implement daily center-based program activities as the lesson plans indicate.
  • Complete and implement daily activity sheets.
  • Provides parents with regular communication, information, skills and supports which will promote their abilities to meet their child's needs.
  • Establish goals, planning activities and evaluation skills for primary care group.
  • Take initiative to develop, set-up and lead classroom activities.
  • Attend orientation and ongoing in-service training during work hours and non-working hours. Minimum of 6 credits a year, fire safety, first aide and child CPR training.
  • Report and document any concerns regarding the care or needs of any children to the room teacher and Program Director including any possible neglect or abuse.
  •  Completion of all documentation accurately, timely and consistently.
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment for all children and staff by daily cleaning of room and documentation of completion. 
  • Holds self-accountable for day-to-day responsibilities and care.
  • Adheres to policies and procedures. Informs the director when YCP policies are not being followed and enforced.
  • Must institute and follow all Agency Policies and Procedures at all times, including but not limited to Confidentiality/HIPAA, OSHA/Universal Precautions.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Development Certificate (GED) required.
  • At least 2 years (2500 hours) documented experience working with children.
  • A person holding this position must be qualified at the minimum DHA level of Assistant Group Supervisor.
  • Experience in leading and/or developing group/classroom activities, strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift, turn, and move objects of up to and including 30 If over 30 pounds, ability to assist in 2-person lift.
  • Ability to stand and move about freely for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to respond quickly to situations in the event of a fire or emergency.
  • Physically capable of participation in physical management of children.
  • Requires sitting, running, walking, kneeling, stooping/bending, lifting, squatting, pushing, pulling, crawling, gripping, reaching over head, reaching away from body, and repetitive motion.
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.

Other Requirements:

  • Submit an application for criminal clearance from Pennsylvania State Police Central Repository, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, and Department of Human Services FBI, and National Sex Offender Registry clearances prior to employment. If applicant has not lived within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the last five (5) years, employee must also submit an application for a Department of Aging FBI Clearance. Employee must also sign a Criminal History & Child Abuse Disclosure Statement upon hire. If completed clearances are not received within 45 calendar days, employee will be suspended. Must renew all required clearances every five (5) years.
  • Upon hire and every two years thereafter, submit a health assessment. Upon hire and annually thereafter, submit results of a Mantoux Tuberculin skin test.
  • Obtain and maintain certification in child CPR.
