Summary This vacancy is for a Supervisory International Trade Specialist (DHA) in the International Trade Administration within the Department of Commerce. This position is located in the Department of Commerce International Trade Administration (ITA) Headquarters located in Washington D.C. The incumbent will serve as Office Director within Industry and Analysis. This position reports to the Deputy Assistant Secretary's Executive Director. Responsibilities As a Supervisory International Trade Specialist (DHA), you will perform the following duties: Assesses the impact of foreign government actions on the competitiveness of U.S.industries; Develops and carries out programs and engagements to strengthen U.S. industry international competitiveness and improve the competitive position of U.S. industry in foreign markets; Analyzes the acquisition by foreign citizens of domestic industry assets for its impact on national security. Communicates timely, expert-level analyses and program details to both internal and external audiences through staff meetings, speaking engagements, internet content, reports, and briefing materials. This Job Opportunity Announcement may be used to fill other Supervisory International Trade Specialist (DHA) GS-1140-15 positions within the Department of Commerce in the same geographical location with the same qualifications and specialized experience. Requirements Conditions of Employment You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position. You must successfully pass a background investigation. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies; knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. To qualify at the GS-15 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is defined as: - Serving as a leading technical advisor in trade policy and analysis; and - Managing and coordinating the trade policy development processes;; and - Representing an agency/organization authoritatively to key sector internal and external stakeholders, and groups; and - Leading a Team and/or supervising Staff engaged in trade analysis.
