Georgetown Univerisity Director of Clery Compliance in Washington, District Of Columbia

Requirements

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Public Safety, the Director of Clery Compliance serves as the principal institutional official responsible for the implementation of federal, local, and campus requirements policies and regulations relating to campus safety and crime reporting. The incumbent works collaboratively with various offices at the University to ensure institutional compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) and associated regulations. They provide leadership, direction, and integration for Clery Act compliance across the Georgetown University enterprise, as well as all separate campus and non-campus properties.

This work involves significant coordination with individuals and offices both within and outside the university, and entails exposure to, and the need to manage appropriately, highly sensitive and confidential information. Reporting to the Associate Vice-President for Public Safety and working closely with the Georgetown University Police Department (GUPD), Law Center Department of Public Safety, Office of Student Conduct, Title IX and the Fire Safety Team to ensure proper training, data collection, and reporting, additional duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, implement, and coordinate the institution’s Clery Act Compliance program, policies and procedures.

  • Prepare, publish, and distribute the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report through crime and disciplinary referral data from various internal and external sources, such as GUPD, the Office of Student Affairs, Student Conduct, Title IX, Campus Security Authorities and local law enforcement agencies.

  • Regularly review and audit police Records Management and Computer Aided Dispatch information for compliance.

  • Collaborate with the Georgetown University Police Department to ensure compliance with the “Timely Warning” and “Emergency Notification” requirements of the Clery Act, ensuring compliance with the daily crime and fire log requirements.

  • Identify and monitor Campus Security Authorities (CSAs) to ensure they understand and are effectively discharging their CSA responsibilities.

  • Provide, facilitate, and manage the education and training of CSA’s, compiling information provided by CSA’s.

  • Prepare, publish, and distribute the Clery Annual Security Report and Fire Safety Report to ensure timely compliance.

  • Work in conjunction with GUPD and the Office of General Counsel on review of the ASR.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or other relevant field

  • At least 5 to 8 years of experience in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related area (Each year of relevant experience may be substituted for 1 year of education requirement)

  • Familiarity with a variety of the security and law enforcement concepts, practices, and procedures such as criminal laws and the laws and regulations associated with the Clery Act, Department of Education mandates, and related federal and local laws and regulations including FERPA, and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) also required

  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills

  • Well-developed skill in collecting, organizing, manipulating, and analyzing various types of data and information using computer software applications and databases

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook with demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to make decisions with little or no supervision

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Communications, Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Law or related field

  • Relevant work experience at or with an institution of higher education

  • A minimum of five years of direct experience managing a Clery Act compliance program, including experience with drafting the Annual Security and Fire Safety Report and classifying Clery crimes and disciplinary referrals

  • Advanced Clery Act Training and experience with police or public safety records management systems

  • Experience in preparing and delivering instructional and training materials and project management

  • Experience in working with on campus hospitals and medical centers

  • Knowledge off how to work with international campuses and programs

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
