Job Overview

The Catholic Chaplain for Faith Formation grows, promotes, and deepens Roman Catholic Life on Georgetown’s Main Campus by building an active faith and intellectual life among the University Catholic community, emphasizing and growing the diversity and inclusion of Catholic students.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Connecting students with Catholic values and Catholic Social Teaching

  • Coordinating student faith groups

  • Fostering formation programs, learning opportunities, community building, and student leadership

  • Supporting Latinx Catholic students

  • Providing individual pastoral support and spiritual accompaniment for students on the main campus

  • Sustaining an emphasis on ministry in the Catholic Church, higher education, and a strong understanding of the Ignatian tradition

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Director of Catholic Life, the Catholic Chaplain for Faith Formation serves as a member of the Catholic Chaplaincy staff, collaborating with other Catholic chaplains and staff and participating as a member of the Ecumenical Team.

As well, they actively collaborate with other Campus Ministry Chaplains and Campus Ministry staff of all faith traditions.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Divinity, Theology, Pastoral Studies or the equivalent

  • 3 to 4 years of working with young people in a campus ministry or similar pastoral setting

  • Commitment to the tradition of Catholic and Jesuit higher education

  • Experienced in faith formation programming and well-versed in the principles of Ignatian spirituality

  • Proficiency with basic computer applications, email, Word, Excel, Google Suite (training available as needed)

  • Skilled with website and social media for communication purposes

Preferred qualification

Experience in crisis management and team building
