Amentum Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) Engineer in Warren, Michigan

Amentum is currently seeking a qualified candidate to serve as a Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety (RAMS) Engineer in the Army’s Product Manager XM30, Program Executive Office (PEO) Ground Combat Systems (GCS) office. This position is currently hybrid, typically with one day weekly in the office at the Detroit Arsenal. This arrangement could change based on the requirements of the government client. Other duties may be assigned to support client and contract deliverables.

This position is not yet funded, position contingent upon funding award.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support planning, performance, and documentation of reliability activities.

  • Perform predictive reliability analysis and the development of System Reliability Models.

  • Develop FMECA (Failure Mode and Effects Criticality Analysis) evaluations and calculations.

  • Develop Maintainability prediction models.

  • Support Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis efforts.

  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop corrective actions for items identified during research, development, testing and evaluation.

  • Conduct reliability and maintainability evaluations.

  • Support development of hardware and software reliability predictions.

  • Identify and initiate preventive/predictive maintenance processes and maintenance techniques.

  • Other deliverables based on contract requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years Industry Experience as a Reliability Engineer, Design Engineer, Development Engineer, or Test Engineer.

  • B.S. Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or other engineering discipline.

  • Experience working on Advanced Hardware Systems.

  • Experience with Prediction Modeling, FMEA/FMECA, and Risk Management.

  • Experience or familiarity with MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD 882E, MIL-HDBK-217, MIL-HDBK-472, US MIL-STD-1629 and DOD RAM Guide.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Detailed-oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills

  • Clearance: Not required for initial hire. Amentum will sponsor a SECRET security clearance, a positive adjudication/determination may be required for continued employment. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain Secret Government Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical engineering, Systems Engineering or other engineering discipline and 10+ years of experience with military or government related duties.

  • Master’s Degree in engineering with 5+ years of RAMS experience or equivalent industry experience.

  • Experience with engineering, logistics, and supply chain management in a highly regulated industry.

  • Experience with reliability modeling and predictive analysis.

  • Experience or familiarity with Reliasoft, or Weibull++, Crow-AMSAA (Growth Model) software.

  • Experience setting up the Reliability Engineering initial framework for a product.

  • Familiarity with the US DoD ground vehicle requirements.

  • Program Management (PM) awareness.

  • Previous DOD experience in acquisitions or acquisitions strategy.

  • Previous experience working in TACOM, PEO CS&CSS, GVSC or PEO Ground Combat Systems (GCS).
