General Description

Performs quality assurance operations in a manufacturing environment for a plant, division, or company.

Duties

  • Supervises Quality Assurance Inspectors and maintains inspection schedule to support manufacturing requirements.
  • Manages Quality Assurance team providing personnel support, developing SMART goals for team, and providing periodic reviews and feedback.
  • Monitors production department's conformance with QA standards and procedures.
  • Conducts quality assurance training for employees within the Quality Department.
  • Suggest methods for improving product quality, design, or manufacturing processes.
  • Works with Engineering, Management and Operations for continuous improvement.
  • Oversees Internal Audit Program.
  • Coordinates the Management Reviews for the site.
  • Oversees the Quality Improvement Program for Corrective and Preventive actions.
  • Maintains a quality program that ensures conformity, against customer requirements, of materials from receiving inspection through final product build and shipment.
  • Revises and updates the quality assurance program to incorporate statistical control programs.
  • Meets with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required.
  • Prepares all necessary reports as required by customers and staff personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • A minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience
  • AS9100 auditor certification desired
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality highly desired.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills accompanied by well versed communication techniques applicable to all levels of employee in order to create a successful team.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules when necessary to meet customer deadlines
  • Some quality assurance practices as they apply to individual unique products can be learned during on-the-job training, but overall capability in this discipline must be previously demonstrated.
  • Must be computer proficient in Windows, Excel and MS Word. Experience with Deltek CostPoint and SharePoint is a plus.

  • Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces and sit for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
  • Good hand eye coordination required along with continuous forward, up, down, and sideways bending motion of head and neck
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions
