Job Summary

The Research and Reporting Analyst, under general supervision, generates and ensures accuracy of reports submitted to State and Federal agencies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops queries, ad hoc reports, etc. at the request of functional users with minimal supervision.

  • Maintains website.

  • Design and develop metrics, reports and analysis. Maintains data warehouse for use by office staff.

  • Compiles information regarding programming needs, objectives, functions, features, and input/output requirements.

  • Makes program and process modifications in accordance with changing user needs, increased operating efficiencies, and/or adaption of new procedures.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Develop and design methods and procedures for collecting, organizing, interpreting, and classifying information for input into computer and retrieval from computer.

  • Train faculty, staff, and students through mini courses and workshops on the use of data in STEM fields.

  • Help manage the TAMIU ARDA Data Science team and support the development of conference presentations.

  • Collect and analyze all aspects of student data and report annual reporting requirements for TAMIU ARDA grant.

  • Meet with Directors frequently.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree

  • Experience – Two years of related experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree

  • Two years related experience.

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Methods and equipment used in electronic data processing, including system analyses, design, and computer programming techniques.

Ability to:

  • Multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Preferred Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience in data analysis is strongly preferred.

  • Experience working with Hispanic and first-generation college students.

  • Strong organizational, communication and writing skills.

Licensing / Professional Certification – None.

Physical Requirements – General Office Environment and ability to lift light objects.

Supervision of Others

This position generally does not supervise employees.

Other Requirements

  • Evening and weekend work may occasionally be required.

  • This is a grant funded position.
