Job Summary

We seek a highly qualified and motivated applicant with experience in science communications and project coordination. The incumbent will coordinate the communication activities and manage websites of projects focused on polyploid genetic analysis and genomics-based methods for germplasm improvement. The incumbent will develop a social media presence, assist and manage project meetings (both virtual and face-to-face), manage clientele lists, and collect/organize information required for the development of reports. The incumbent will be supervised by Dr. Oscar Riera-Lizarazu and will coordinate activities with the other project participants, project advisory boards, and industry/public clientele groups participating in project training efforts.

Job Responsibilities

• Independently plan and manage all project meetings

• Develop and execute a communications plan that includes a website

• Establish a social media presence

• Write news releases

• Collect and collate research updates from project participants for the development of required reports and project communications

• Coordinate with project participants in maintaining project websites

• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education or experience.Three years of related experience

Preferred Education and Experience:

Master's degree in science and/or communications

Experience coordinating science communication activities and managing project websites.

Required knowledge, skills and abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilitiesExperience with the communication of scienceA sound understanding of plant genetics and breedingExperience in website development and maintenance

Ability to use web management toolsProficient in using social media for outreach activities
