Job Description

Animal Cell/Plant cell Molecular biology Postdoctoral Position:The postdoctoral position is for a candidate to be involved in different projects conducting research related to animal cell/plant cell molecular biology in relation to drug discovery of bioactive compounds from plants and plant products. This will include molecular target identification of natural products from plants with health promoting properties and focus on human chronic diseases. The candidate must have of preference a cell molecular biology background at the PhD level. The candidate must have an in depth experience in the use and data interpretation of standard molecular biology techniques including gene and protein expression, chemical and biochemical assays applied to cell studies in-vitro and in-vivo animal models. In addition, the candidate will be expected to support different projects in the lab. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required Education:

PhD

Preferred Experience:

Cell molecular biology background at the PhD level.

In depth experience in the use and data interpretation of standard molecular biology techniques including gene and protein expression, chemical and biochemical assays applied to cell studies in-vitro and in-vivo animal models. In addition, a background in immunology and chronic diseases is preferred.

Required knowledge, skills and abilities:

Good communication and computer skills.

Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others.

Other Information:

The postdoctoral research associate position is involved in different projects conducting research related to animal cell/plant cell molecular biology in relation to drug discovery of bioactive compounds from plants and plant products. In addition, the position will be expected to support different projects in the lab. This position is for Dr. Cisneros-Zevallos Lab at Texas A&M University.

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct research in the area described, write reports, manuscripts and paper submission, support proposal writing, support several projects in the lab, train students in the use of molecular techniques, manage lab activities including purchase, inventory, equipment maintenance.

70%- Research activities

20%- Lab management

10%- Other duties as assigned
