Overview BigBear.ai is seeking a Director of Finance who will play a key role in leading program financial analysis and pricing across both our federal and commercial portfolios.    You will oversee the team responsible for ensuring effective controls for program execution, accurate and predictable financial forecasting, overall health and success of our programs, as well as own indirect rates, FAR/CAS compliance and the pricing function. This is a dynamic and challenging role that requires strong analytical skills, financial acumen, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. This position can be performed fully remote. What you will do Manage and oversee the development of all project forecasts and EACs, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, to support program management decisions and ensure accurate financial reporting Provide consolidated and portfolio level reporting of contract backlog, base throughput and staffing across both federal and commercial contracts. Monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables, identifying potential risks and issues, and recommend appropriate corrective actions Partnering with the President-IDS, lead Program and EAC review process, consolidating financial status, program health, and risks and opportunities across the portfolio. Assign resources to assist in proposal development and review cost strategies and estimates, and support capture teams throughout the proposal process through negotiation and award. Where necessary, develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with US government agencies and regulations, such as the Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), as well as requirements under Sarbanes-Oxley 404(b). Monitor and direct labor utilization and deliver standardized DL Utilization metrics and reports to both program management and senior leadership to enhance decisions making. Lead the annual Incurred Cost Proposal submission, and subsequent audit, as well as develop provisional billing rates and forward pricing rates, as required. What you need to have Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus Minimum of 10 years of experience in program control, financial analysis, or related roles, preferably within the defense or government contracting industry Strong understanding of project management principles and financial concepts Proficiency in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights Experience with government contracts and implementing FAR/CAS compliance procedures, drafting Disclosure Statements, submitting and negotiating annual Incurred Costs Proposals and indirect rate development. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and ability to meet tight deadlines Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing environment and manage multiple priorities effectively Proven success with process improvement/efficiency initiatives with tangible results What we'd like you to have Familiarity with government contracts and the following contract types: Fixed Price (FP), Time & Material (T&M), Cost Plus Fixed Fee (CPFF) Experience with project-based accounting ERP systems such as Unanet or Deltek Costpoint About BigBear.ai BigBear.ai is a leading provider of AI-powered decision intelligence solutions for national security, supply chain management, and digital identity.
