THE ROLE : The Field Service Technician/Driver will be responsible for safe operation of a DOT regulated vehicle, transporting materials/equipment from point A to point B. This role initiates and executes field service activities at customer sites in a safe and efficient manner, works with mechanical, electrical, diesel equipment, and anticipates and corrects safety issues. The Field Service Technician/Driver has direct communication with customers and may be responsible for work in multiple systems/locations/customers. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES : To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Identify all items to be delivered or picked up with customer to ensure completeness and accuracy. Perform visual inspection of equipment being picked up and note any damage. Obtain customer’s signature on appropriate paperwork.

  • Utilize motorized equipment handling machinery to safely load equipment on and off trucks and trailers.

  • Secure all items loaded on the truck for safe over-the-road travel in accordance with Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMCSA), Federal Department of Transportation and local Department of Transportation guidelines.

  • Assist in securing load utilizing straps and chains.

  • Ensure yard and loading areas are clear of debris and trash; accessories and equipment are organized and easy to access.

  • Follow all safety processes and procedures and maintain a ‘Safety First’ approach when completing daily work tasks. Complete a Job Safety Assessment before beginning any job on a customer site. Ensure compliance with all Personal Protective Equipment requirements.

  • Must be able to function in a team environment

  • Usually works with minimal supervision, works independently

  • Create and maintain safe working environment and culture within the organization

  • Take care of company property

  • Demonstrate high impact culture through innovation, accountability and empowerment

Travel Requirements:

  • 20 – 80% travel required across Treasure Valley including periodic overnight stays away from home

Driving Requirements

  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

  • Employee Applicant Drug and Alcohol Statement

  • FMCSA Certificate of Awareness

  • Driver Certificate of Violations

  • Driver Statement of On Duty Hours Road Test

  • Copy of Driver’s License

  • Copy of Medical Certificate

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • HS diploma or equivalent

  • Ability to obtain a CDL, class A or B with applicable endorsements

  • Technical Certification, Degree, or industry specific license(s) preferred

Experience Requirements:

  • Ability to obtain all required customer clearances (TWIC, DISA, MHSA etc.)

  • Ability to obtain DOT Medical card

  • Clean driving record

  • 1 - 3 years of technical/mechanical work experience

  • Ability to drive overnight and difficult routes

  • Ability to understand weight requirements/weight distribution

Skill Requirements:

  • Electrical, mechanical, diesel, fusion experience depending on business unit

  • Work without direct supervision and provide coaching/training to junior-level technicians

  • Technically sound

  • Experience with Microsoft Office

  • Must have customer service experience

  • Demonstrate critical thinking and complex troubleshooting ability

  • Synthesize technical information and communicates it clearly

  • Derive insight from customer experience to produce outcomes and solve complex problems often in novel and unexpected ways

DAY IN THE LIFE :

In this role, the working environment is frequently outdoors with exposure to multiple weather extremities, use of PPE is required, exposure to hazardous material, loud noise, etc. and the physical demands may include but not limited to regularly sitting, bending, stooping, kneeling, standing, lifting up to 50lbs, etc. In addition, this role may require some travel and participation in work on weekends, nights, after-hours, and an on-call rotation as a regular part of the job.

SALARY :

The estimated hourly range for this position is $23.00/hr. to $30.00/hr.   Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.

Salary range:

$54,000.00 - $86,500.00
