Are you interested in providing leadership and direction for the educational initiatives, community engagement, and learning experiences for the Texas A&M University Libraries? As the Director of Learning and Engagement, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of the department, while also collaborating with other library units on the delivery of a comprehensive instruction program. You will apply your expertise to implement and improve the Libraries’ information literacy, outreach, and student success programs. Additionally, you will lead the Learning and Engagement Division to improve the culture of teaching and learning excellence and to strengthen the library’s capacity to support the university’s curriculum.

Opportunities to Contribute:

  • Lead the librarians and professional staff in the Learning and Engagement Department, a growing department of over 17 staff

  • Collaborate with a team of librarians to integrate information literacy into the curriculum while considering both physical and digital learning experiences

  • Strengthen the library’s capacity to support the university’s curriculum by implementing instructional professional development programs for librarians

  • Manage instructional spaces in the Libraries, which includes the portfolio for the Libraries’ multimedia studio

  • Develop best practices and set strategic directions for innovative learning programs

  • Provide insights through data-driven assessments and decision making

  • Direct advocacy efforts, provide expertise, develop partnerships, and inform campus leadership and faculty on emerging trends in information literacy

  • Set priorities, make informed decisions, and build team motivation and consensus

  • Participate in scholarly activities and professional service for professional development and to incorporate new ideas and technologies into library services and programs

    Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent degree

  • Ten years related experience in a public, academic, or specialized library or archive

A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:

  • Knowledge of academic library functions and understanding of how the curriculum process works within a university

  • Ability and ambition to manage, plan, lead, and organize an overall unit and its operations

  • Experience with teaching information literacy concepts and skills and leading library instruction programming

  • Knowledge or demonstrated experience with library outreach programs

  • Knowledge or demonstrated experience with learning management systems (eg Canvas) and educational technologies used in libraries (Springshare products, tutorial software, etc.)

  • Knowledge or previous utilization of innovative library learning spaces such as multimedia studios or makerspaces

  • Experience mentoring and guiding team members to foster professional growth

    Minimum starting salary: $103,980 annually

The anticipated start date for this position will be before the start of the 2024 Fall semester. However, we are open to discussing adjustments based on your availability.
