Job Description

The Digital Communications Specialist II, is the primary content creator for the university enterprise social media platforms, producing both written and visual content targeted at achieving the goals for the university’s social media accounts. Under general supervision of the Enrollment Communications Coordinator, the Digital Communications Specialist works as part of the Enrollment Marketing and Communications team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily activities associated with managing social media accounts. Monitors brand mentions, with focus on developing, connecting, and engaging with strong communities with a dedicated and responsive outreach. Provides reports on social media activity to management.

  • Develops content strategies for social media platforms consistent with marketing and enrollment goals.

  • Develops and maintains a social media calendar to guide activities on platforms.

  • Utilize creative new media, including internal and external web, social media tools, and online communities to help increase visibility, interest, and relationships in support of enrollment initiatives and institutional priorities.

  • Participates in internal and external web content updates, podcasting, blogging, or other approved initiatives, and analyzes social media efforts quantitatively to fuel recommendations/plans for ongoing utilization.

  • Researches and writes a variety of publications, with special consideration to efforts directed to web or social media utilization. Collects information and writes content documenting research, teaching, service, and student success for publications in support of enrollment goals and institutional priorities.

  • Serves as a point of contact for institutional stakeholders needing support of other institutionally affiliated social media accounts. Make recommendations to management for development of guidelines and policies to ensure effective use of social media and management of brand.

  • Assists other members of the marketing team with production of materials and content for marketing initiatives as needed.

    Minimum Requirements

  • Education – Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Experience – Two years of related experience.

    Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing organizational/business social media accounts.

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Knowledge of – Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to – Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to present information clearly and concisely.

    Salary: $36,512.00

    Hours: Monday - Friday; 8am to 5pm; some nights and weekends as needed.

    Supervision of Others: This position generally does not supervise employees.

    Work Location: This is not a remote position. The selected candidate will be required to work on campus.
