We are looking for a super sharp, highly-motivated, hard-working, team-spirited, business-minded attorney with commercial contracting experience to join our commercial legal team. This job will involve interfacing with our commercial (sales) team to provide creative, proactive and pragmatic legal guidance and white-glove deal support. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, with the ability to capture complex legal and business concepts clearly, concisely and to stay calm under pressure.

*We strongly prefer candidates who can be based in Little Rock or Boston.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities):

  • Independently negotiate and draft a wide variety of commercial agreements, including terms of service agreements, data processing agreements, services schedules, and bespoke commercial agreements.

  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on significant business and legal risks.

  • Align with the Data Ethics team to provide tangible advice to commercial stakeholders on data privacy issues arising in commercial transactions.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders to drive commercial transactions to close, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance with legal standards.

  • Support the continuous improvement of standard form contracts and legal processes, enhancing operational efficiency and legal compliance.

  • Mentor junior legal staff and lead cross-functional project teams to ensure legal best practices are implemented across the organization.

  • Manage external legal resources effectively to ensure optimal service delivery and cost efficiency.

About You (MInimum Requirements):

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and admission to at least one state bar.

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience drafting commercial contracts and providing legal guidance to commercial business teams, which can be obtained through working at an in-house legal department (experience in an Adtech/Martech, SaaS, data, or similar technology company is an advantage) or handling similar matters at a law firm.

  • Self-motivation, an aptitude for technology, and quick-learning abilities, with a proactive approach to engaging with new business and technology domains.

  • Comfort with ambiguity and independence in managing multiple tasks and projects in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent communication skills are required for effective internal and external collaboration and negotiation.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to effectively address and resolve complex legal issues.

  • A customer service mindset with a focus on prioritizing the customer's needs in legal processes and business interactions.

  • A sense of humor and a positive attitude are essential to maintaining a healthy work environment and fostering positive relationships.

  • Grit and resilience to handle challenging situations and persevere through obstacles with a constructive, drama-free approach.

Bonus Points & Preferred Skills:

  • Prior in-house legal experience who have worked within Adtech/Martech, SaaS, data, or similar technology sectors.

  • Expertise in areas such as AdTech/MarTech, Data, Tech Transactions, and Open Source Licensing. A deep understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and a solid track record of drafting and negotiating contracts, advising business teams, and managing legal risks.

  • A proven track record in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment, highlighting the ability to effectively handle a high volume of assignments from multiple business units.

  • A strategic thinker with a pragmatic and proactive approach to addressing and navigating complex legal challenges.

The approximate annual base compensation range is $137,000 to $160,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be determined by a number of factors including the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, geography, as well as internal equity among our team.
