Shell Operations Technician - Electrical in Malaysia

Purpose

Opportunity to join as a Specialist Operations Technician – Electrical (SOTE) with Senior Authorised Electrical Person (SAEP) role for the first deepwater sour gas development in Sarawak, the Rosmari and Marjoram fields to deliver:

  1. Safe production of hydrocarbon within Operating Envelope of the plant

  2. Manage electrical equipment/systems of the utilities systems including steam system, boilers, service water, instrument airs, nitrogen, and other utilities system for R&M OGP

The incumbent shall join R&M during project phase, commissioning & start-up and continue operating R&M OGP for minimum period of 4 years after first gas.

For OPERATE Phase, management and supervision of the overall electrical and HVAC maintenance and inspection activities in Bintulu OGP including budget cost control. Execute cost effective specialised inspection and maintenance tasks in support of the plant.

Accountabilities

HSSE / R&M OGP Safety Management System

• Relentless pursuit of Goal zero target with no harm to people (Personal Safety) and no Leak (Process Safety)

• Carry out assigned duties as emergency response team during drills and emergencies

• Carry out audits of worksites including pro active safe behavior and document findings

Technical

• Work and interact with Electrical Discipline Leads, OR&A Engineers and Vendors to assist in electrical related detailed design, commissioning and operations for the systems including sub systems and interfaces to gain technical and operational knowledge of the plant and equipment

• Leads electrical technicians in operations and maintenance of electrical equipment including UPS, Switchgear, UPS, MCC, HVAC, Heaters. Executes routine maintenance such as Battery Discharge test, Protection relay testing/ calibration, Electrical EX & IP integrity check and etc.

• Leads to identify, troubleshoot and normalize any abnormal operating conditions related to electrical equipment conditions effectively and efficiently to minimize safety risks, economic losses to identify, analyze and recommend changes to improve overall plant reliability, performance and output

• Ability to read, coach and interpret single line diagram, schematic diagrams, procedures and technical manuals

• Follow up on audits closure items and deviation control

• Provide input into the weekly scheduling meeting, ensuring work preparation and scheduling are properly managed

• Control and monitor downtime and turnaround of Critical Electrical Equipment service/repairs and spares diligently

• Ensure adequate data collection to support rigorous analysis of facilities performance and failures

• Work to correct equipment, procedures, etc. to eliminate sources of performance loss

• Identify & review spares required to support facilities over their life cycle

• Deliver cost effective discipline maintenance that maintains technical integrity within agreed expenditure targets

• Provide input to discipline maintenance budgets for frontline and own section

• Provide cost effective specialist maintenance support to the Frontline

• Develop staff to achieve their potential and meet the competence standards required

• Contracts execution, ensuring they align with the business needs

As and when there are business requirements, staff can be assigned more safety critical roles and technical tasks

Skills and Requirements

Minimum

  1. 5 years experiences in electrical systems and equipment or Frontline Operations & Maintenance

  2. Holder of Certificate of Competency as a Chargeman for LV system including generators (L1, and L3), L4 (Solar) and HV voltage of up to 33kV (H1).

  3. For HV chargeman certification, applicant shall also possess a switching certificate with categorization of “Open” for voltages up to 33kV.

  4. Applicant who did not fully comply with the Chargeman requirement stated above are still encouraged to apply. However after accepting employment, applicant shall agree to undergo necessary training and assessment to obtain appropriate switching certificates.

  5. Passed Electricity Ordinance Electrical Rules (EOER) examination.

  6. Well verse in Company Electrical Safety Rules, Sarawak Electricity Act and SESCO Regulations.

  7. Good analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills

  8. Well-developed English communication/writing skills, with ability to interface well with teams, regulatory bodies, multi-disciplinary/cultural stakeholders

Preferred

  1. A Diploma/Degree in any Engineering disciplines

  2. Experiences in Sour Gas Plant or Integrated Refinery/Petrochemicalplant

  3. Good command of Bahasa Malaysia language
