Oracle Technical Writer in United Kingdom

Job Description

As a member of the Retail Global Industries Unit (RGIU) Documentation team, you will organize and prepare information for publication to the Oracle Help Center and to My Oracle Support. You will author documentation for a variety of audiences and work closely with the development team and product managers to incorporate changes and new material. Your deliverables will include API documentation (such as REST web services), user guides, implementation guides, operations guides, and so on. You will follow Oracle and department processes, templates, and standards using various tools and systems.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as Technical Writer, Technical Author, Information Developer, or similar role

  • Advanced level in English writing abilities

  • Experience with structured writing, such as DITA and XML editors such as Oxygen and Arbortext

  • Experience documenting highly complex engineering environments

  • Ability to establish and follow content style and usage guidelines

  • Strong drafting, copy editing, and proofreading expertise

  • Good attention to detail and analytical thinking abilities

  • Experience with project management software such as Jira issue tracking systems and Confluence collaboration tools for sharing the information, or similar

  • Strong team player with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work independently within a large and globally distributed software development organization and have a strong work ethic

Responsibilities

• Develop accurate documentation on time with a high degree of quality to reflect product releases.

• Review all pertinent functional and technical information from product management, development and subject matter experts to understand the functionality from the users' perspective.

• Present technical information by creating and editing screen captures, charts, tables, lists, steps, or graphics.

• Perform job requirements according to a Documentation project plan.

• Gain deep expertise in Oracle Retail technical authoring processes and Oracle Retail software.

• Share technical authoring and publishing knowledge with team members.
