Oracle Senior Principal Software Developer Studio in the Cloud in Czech Republic

Job Description

The team is responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of a new set of cloud services focused specifically on the digital media production industry. Product areas include virtual animation workstation service, digital asset management, high-performance storage, render farm as a service, license management, and production pipeline management services.

This is an opportunity to help build a competitive offering from the ground up and extend the reach of OCI to address greenfield opportunities in the media and entertainment industry. You will work with a talented group of software developers, designing scalable, highly available cloud services in a world-class cloud development environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the engineering delivery of an assigned part of the software solution.

  • Work collaboratively with other developers, architects, managers, and different Oracle teams to deliver features and launch new cloud services.

  • Proactively identify and resolve risks and issues that may dent the team’s ability to execute.

  • Drive engineering efforts and provide direction to other technical members of the team.

  • Develop a long-term technical roadmap for the solution area.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 10+ years of software engineering work experience.

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, operating systems, distributed systems, and other computer science fundamentals.

  • Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming in one or more of Java, C#, Golang, C++, or similar OO languages.

  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills of the used solution stack.

  • Good understanding of developing customer-facing microservice-based architectures, tiered architectures, including virtualization, containerization, and REST API interfaces.

Nice-to-have Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in building highly available, high-traffic, distributed services, possessing knowledge of common service-oriented design patterns and service-to-service communication protocols. Familiarity with concepts such as availability, observability, scalability, testability, recoverability, etc.

  • Previous experience in utilizing public cloud services from the current major providers (such as Oracle, Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, etc.) in developing complex software products.

  • Domain knowledge and experience with workflows and pipelines for media production – digital asset management and namespaces, familiarity with 3d frameworks, universal scene description, scene graphs, layers and models, 3d data packaging, rendering workflows, image composition, tools used in the workflow by artists, engineers, editors, and content creators is a plus.

Responsibilities

As a member of the software engineering division, you will take an active role in the definition and evolution of standard practices and procedures. Define specifications for significant new projects and specify, design and develop software according to those specifications. You will perform professional software development tasks associated with the developing, designing and debugging of software applications or operating systems.
