We are seeking an experienced and passionate Director of Quality Assurance to join our team. The Director of Quality Assurance will be responsible for defining, leading, and managing the quality assurance processes to ensure the delivery of high-quality products/services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Testing, Automation, QA methodologies, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering quality products.
Required Skills
Strategic Planning
Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy that aligns with the organization's goals and objectives
Align QA efforts with business goals and objectives
Collaborate with other stakeholders, such as developers, project managers, and business analysts, to ensure that testing aligns with project goals and objectives
Foster teamwork within cross-functional product development teams
Create a strategic plan for the continued development of our QA Automation Platform, and develop a roadmap for integrating functional and automated testing
Team Leadership
Inspire, lead, and manage a team of QA professionals, providing guidance, training, and mentorship
Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the QA team
Establish goals, communicate them to team members, and assess their progress toward them
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive
Lead the QA team as they transition from a heavily manual test environment into an automation-centric organization
Quality Assurance Processes
Establish and enforce quality assurance standards, procedures, and methodologies
Collaborate with other departments to integrate QA processes into overall business processes
Oversee the development and execution of test plans, test cases, and test scripts
Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with established QA processes
Willingness and ability to participate in technical designs and code reviews, both for application and test automation
Testing and Validation
Coordinate and conduct functional, regression, and performance testing as needed
Analyze test results and collaborate with development teams to resolve issues
Test Automation
Drive continued adoption of test automation strategies and technologies, staying abreast of current industry trends and best practices. Work to integrate automated testing into the sprint work
Implement automated testing processes to improve efficiency and accuracy
Project Support (Delivery or Leadership)
Deliver all portfolios of committed projects on time, within budget, and of high quality. Helping projects to be successful by taking on QA tasks when appropriate and helping QA team members work through challenging technical issues
Working with Project stakeholders to collaborate, integration across teams, and affect positive outcomes for all
Strategic thinking to align QA efforts with business objectives
Risk Management
Identify and assess potential risks to product quality and develop mitigation strategies
Collaborate with project managers to ensure that quality considerations are integrated into project planning
Metrics, Reporting and Documentation
Generate and communicate regular reports on QA metrics, test results, and overall product quality
Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness of QA processes
Maintain comprehensive documentation of QA processes, standards, and testing procedures
Vendor Management
- Collaborate with external vendors, if applicable, to ensure quality standards are met for outsourced testing services
Continuous Improvement
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices
Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in QA
Hiring and Onboarding
- Responsible for hiring full-time QA Engineers, Automation Engineers, and contractors. Identifies high-quality talent and places individuals in the right roles
Leadership and Communication
Excellent leadership and people management skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to influence and collaborate at all organizational levels
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Computer Science, Engineering, etc.)
8-10 years of experience in software quality assurance
5+ years of QA Management experience managing, leading, and coordinating activities of a QA team
Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle and QA methodologies
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Experience with automated testing tools and practices
Experience writing test automation for the UI and/or API using JavaScript, TypeScript, or another modern scripting language
Detail-oriented with a focus on delivering high-quality products
As a testament to our commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, our salary bands are transparent both internally and as a part of our external recruitment process. The targets for this role are dependent on market/ geographic location and range from $125,000 CAD to $150,000 CAD.
