Position summary: Responsible for running the operations of the office including the formulation of business, marketing, and strategic planning. The successful candidate will also serve as the local chief officer and will be primarily responsible for advancing the office growth and profitability of JMT through Industry Leadership, Advocacy, and Business Development. Additionally, the Office Leader is responsible for management of all operations, and stewardship of resources, including supervision of office staff and close coordination with Virginia Offices and Regional Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Maintain existing and develop new clients
Advocate for JMT and the selling of our services
Foster relationship building, and communication with key stakeholders at the local, state, and federal levels
Responsible for the monitoring and management of work-in-process, billings, monitoring of outstanding accounts receivable and initial collection efforts for projects.
Forecast administrative, staffing/manpower, and facility needs for office
Review the design and production work of the staff to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards and is in conformance with company standards
Strive continually to see that work is completed on time and within allocated budget
Coordinate with JMT Senior Management and the Virginia Regional Manager on the performance of the branch office
Coordinate and carry out the marketing and financial objectives and policies established by the Board of Directors
Represent JMT and serve industry organizations in key roles to help focus on long term growth strategies and lasting relationships
Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the firm’s policies and applicable laws
Interview, hire, train, assign and directing work, appraise performance, reward and discipline employees, address complaints and resolve problems
Provide ongoing direction and support for JMT staff through mentoring, coaching, and feedback
Maintain professional licensure in the state of residence and be responsible for supervising production of construction documents, facility studies, and architectural/engineering reports
Seal/sign construction documents
Conduct strategic development, annual planning, and executive level administrative duties

Required SkillsRequired Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or closely related major
Registered Engineer, Land Surveyor or Architect in the state of Virginia
20+ years of industry experience including supervisory, project management, and business development
Qualifications Preferred
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, Land Surveying or closely related major
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
