GE Aerospace Senior Distinguished Staff - Test Pilot in Victorville, California

Job Description Summary

You will serve as a senior engineering test pilot, acting as pilot-in-command of the GE Aerospace B747-400 flying testbed during developmental flight test of commercial aircraft engines. In this role you will assist the Chief Test Pilot in the execution of aircraft engine testing, including test planning, risk mitigation, test flight execution, and test reporting.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain currency and proficiency as pilot-in-command of the GE Aerospace B747-400 flying testbed

  • Provide leadership and guidance during test planning and risk mitigation processes

  • Safely, effectively, and efficiently execute developmental test flights in accordance with commercial turbofan engine program objectives

  • Assist in the reporting of test results to clearly communicate findings and to promote safe and effective operation of GE Aerospace products during service with customers

  • Provide leadership, experience, and knowledge to proactively identify and solve technical problems

  • Stay current and involved in the aerospace industry developments and regulatory initiatives to ensure state-of-the-art competitiveness

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a formal test pilot school (full course), i.e., U.S. Naval Test Pilot School, U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School, Empire Test Pilot School, EPNER, or National Test Pilot School

  • FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate: airplane, multi-engine, land

  • A minimum of 3,000 hours total pilot time

  • A minimum of 1,500 hours pilot-in-command time in multi-engine turbine aircraft (single-engine military jet experience acceptable)

  • Minimum 5 years of developmental flight test experience as a test pilot

Desired Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university or college

  • Master of Science degree in an engineering or physical science discipline from an accredited college or university

  • B747-400 type rating

  • B747-400 flight test experience

  • FAA 1st class medical or the ability to acquire one

  • Strong technical and analytical capability

  • Strong oral and written communications skills

  • English proficient (no restrictions)

  • Post-maintenance check flight experience

  • International aircraft ferry experience
