Amazon Security Engineering Manager, Security Operations Research in VIC, Australia

Description

As a Security Engineering manager, you will help build and manage services that drive and automate the mitigation of incident response across all Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will manage software development engineers, security engineers and program managers to develop innovative security solutions at an unprecedented scale. Our services protect the AWS cloud for all customers and preserves our customer’s trust in us. You will get to use the full power and breadth of AWS technologies to build services that empower our incident response team, protecting every single AWS customer from security threats.

You have strong technical skills, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and motivation to achieve results for your customers. You are a leader who prioritizes systematically, communicates clearly and compellingly, and fosters a growth mentality and delivery excellence within your team.

As a security leader, you will (a) lead by example, innovate and solve security challenges at a massive scale, (b) orchestrate strategy and direction, roadmap planning, and project execution scheduling, (c) hire, build and manage a cross-functional engineering team, and (d) foster strong team culture.

On-Call Responsibility

This position involves on-call escalation responsibilities (daytime only). We work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience developing, maintaining, and scaling production software,

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing and building teams (including coaching and mentoring)

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Solutions Architect (Associate level) certification

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner

  • Experience with building high-performance, highly-available and scalable distributed systems and executing a software roadmap

  • Experience with common attack scenarios within cloud computing environments and has used a security framework, such as MITRE ATT&CK, to define and analyze security incidents.

  • Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and delivery incrementally to the right direction
