Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Purchasing or related field within a manufacturing facility. Relevant experience within the automotive industry preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required with a business or technical emphasis.
Excellent skills and experience in contract negotiation and price negotiation in a manufacturing environment.
Strategic thinker and implementer of effective tactical plans.
Assigns the highest priority to customer satisfaction while meeting commitments to achieve business objectives.
Performs function with a sense of purpose and a high degree of urgency.
Creates a positive work environment by demonstrating and sharing functional/technical knowledge.
Advanced knowledge of Production Purchasing and Powertrain components.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs tasks and responsibilities detailed in MPT’s IATF 16949 policies, procedures and work instructions.
Complies with the designated ISO 14001 responsibilities related to effective environmental management in accordance with MPT’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
Advanced knowledge of Production Purchasing and Powertrain components.
Follow the Global GPP (Global Purchasing Procedure) at the corporate & division level.
Prepares quotations packages (SORs) for supplier bidding process for new and current business and/or re-sourcing using eRFX system.
Participate in supplier quotations to obtain the best overall purchase on behalf of the company.
Identify re-sourcing needs and opportunities as well as possible VAVE projects and set up implementation teams in cooperation with strategic purchasing.
Create and implement material cost savings programs together with strategic purchasing.
Award purchase orders within the frame work of the GPP for current business and/or re-sourcing; following the GPP.
Manage day to day purchasing operations as required / supplier interactions and cooperate with other functions in the divisions on purchasing related tasks and keep divisional management informed.
Resolve supplier issues, price increase request, quality and shipment issues in cooperation with Strategic Purchasing and SQD.
Address and resolve short term production delivery or purchase order problems.
Participate in supplier Long Term Agreements and supplier giveback terms for current and/or re-sourcing business
Participate in supplier credit terms and the completion of credit applications.
Establishes and maintains controls for quantity, price for newly sourced production parts.
Develop/deliver cost savings for materials & services for each commodity in divisional and group KMIs.
Divisional Purchasing lead responsible for parts or suppliers of new programs following GPMS system. Ensure launch readiness status is OK
Maintain and report out in regular scheduled meetings with Purchasing Manager – Director the following: Open Issues, RFQ Tracking, and Divisional KMIs Participate in Group Q2 meeting.
Attend – participate in supplier visits.
Aids and assist in department reports and presentations.
