Location: Vancouver, Washington Type: Contract Job #7419 Overview: ACS Professional Staffing is looking for an employee to work onsite with our client. The Civil Engineer will provide professional engineering expertise in assisting project manager and other engineering personnel in implementing projects, supporting field maintenance crews and other related engineering activities. This full-time position is located in Vancouver, WA. Initiate and participate in initial planning meetings with clients and customers and assist in the development of, or recommend, project estimates. Provide input and recommendations to assist in determining the activities necessary to establish the most effective location of transmission line and fiber optic facilities, considering performance, cost, environmental impacts, and problems related to public and/or political issues. Monitor the progress of the overall design of assigned projects, interacting extensively with the Project Manager (PM) and other engineers, documenting all pertinent changes encountered as well as their impacts. Provide design support to the assigned department, construction inspectors, or other field personnel during the construction of assigned transmission projects. Complete special design studies as assigned where unique or unusually complex problems are involved. Review and check designs prepared by other engineers and design contractors to validate accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the company's requirements and design parameters. Review and validate contractor prepared drawings, material certifications, and submittals for conformance to design specifications and standards. Provide recommendations tomanagers in developing policies, procedures, practices, and tools used in project engineering. Provide training of other staff on above processes & procedures. Provide planning support, coordinate plans of service with stakeholders, and assistmanagement with implementing plans for assigned transmission projects. Prepare detailed design, material, or procurement specifications for assigned projects, verifying that technical tradeoffs have been considered, and recommendations conform to existing material policies and standards, and are within budgetary constraints. Provide technical input, options, and recommendations to decision makers for equipment and hardware purchases for the completion of assigned Transmission projects as requested. Provide technical input and recommendations into Statements of Work (SOWs), estimates of project costs, and specifications / requirements for fiber optic, dark fiber, and other projects in areas of expertise, as requested. May participate as a technical advisor and nonvoting member of a source evaluation board as requested. Prepare engineering designs or assist in developing engineering requirements (Restoration Manual and Construction Data Book) for the development, installation, and modifications of existing facilities, which may include one lines, structure lists, splice diagrams, cable installation sheets, stringing & installation instructions, step plans, and other documentation as needed.
