We have great opportunities at The Coalition for a Senior Visual Effects (VFX) Artist to deliver groundbreaking visuals in our games. If you are passionate about playing games, making games, and solving hard problems, we encourage you to apply. As a Senior VFX Artist you’ll be responsible for creating and implementing high-end real-time visual effects into a game using Unreal Engine. You will collaborate with Artists, Engineers and Designers to craft state-of-the-art work that helps bring players to our experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Lead VFX Artist, Art Director, Technical Artists and Engineers to create and deliver VFX that embodies our creative vision.

  • Ensure that VFX are created in accordance with the approved game style and technical requirements constraints.

  • Ensure the quality bar of the game is maintained through consistent communication in all directions.

  • Rapid prototyping of VFX in close collaboration with Tech Art and Engineering teams.

  • Authoring high quality visuals.

  • Planning, estimating and prioritizing tasks.

  • R&D, reference gathering, and document processes.

  • Mentor early in career artists on the team.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Certificate in Design, Fine Arts, Human Computer Interaction, Visual Communications or related art field AND 4+ years experience in art design or a related art field working on computer games or entertainment

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • Shipped 1+ title(s) as a VFX or Technical Artist

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in video game development as a VFX or Technical Artist

  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant experience in creating real time VFX in a photo realistic style.

  • Experience with particle systems workflows and shader creation from concept to optimization.

  • Experience using industry standard 3D content creation tools.

  • Ability to take constructive feedback from leads, publishers and other team members and channel it into improving the product.

  • Unreal experience is a big plus, specifically with Niagara and Chaos Destruction.

  • Houdini experience is a big plus.

  • Python scripting experience is a plus.

  • Tech Art experience is also a plus.

Art IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $104,000 - CAD $193,200 per year.
