PeaceHealth is seeking a Program Manager, for our Hospital Medicine Programs. This is a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position.

The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $36.55 – $54.83. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for partnering with the lead physician(s) to provide effective and proactive management of operations; to ensure exceptional service to patients; and to achieve annual operational and financial goals. Responsible for engaging the lead physician(s) in developing and implementing action plans to meet annual goals and to resolve clinical issues in a timely manner; ensuring efficient operations for patients, providers, and staff through standardization when appropriate; developing a culture of service excellence and respectful collaboration by carefully overseeing and ensuring effective work performance by staff; collaborating with the lead physician(s) to improve patient access to care through carful stewardship of resources including provider schedules and staffing.

Essential Functions

  • Partner with lead physicians to lead operations to ensure overall success of the PeaceHealth (PH) hospital provider programs. The lead physician provides direct provider oversight.

  • Proactive daily management of the hospital medicine programs staffed by employed PeaceHealth providers including: financial performance; provider practice efficiency; service excellence; financial management to meet budget, staffing, personnel management and on-going process improvement.

  • Partner with lead physician(s), other physicians, and staff to establish various program goals and implementation plans consistent with PH hospitals and medical group’s strategic plan and annual operating goals.

  • Collaborate with the lead physician(s), PHMG Quality Committee, the Center for Healthcare Improvement, and other necessary individuals and committees to lead implementation of quality initiatives and to address specific quality related issues.

  • Budget planning and monitoring working in conjunction with other stakeholders.

  • Responsible for revenue cycle including charge capture, documentation management, coding, and denial per standard processes, etc.

  • Engage the lead physicians in review and dissemination of hospitalist program financial performance and productivity.

  • Provide first line response to physician and staff issues (behavioral and clinical). Responsible for problem resolution in collaboration with the lead physician(s).

  • Participate in the review of CVs and facilitate the interview process for physician recruits (with the lead physician as appropriate).

  • Work closely with the lead physician(s) to oversee and support Providers - Physicians Advanced Practice Clinicians (Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant) practices including orientation and clinical mentoring.

  • Work closely with hospital managers and directors to ensure efficient workflow within hospital departments involving PeaceHealth providers, patient experience, and quality initiatives.

  • Foster, develop and model professional excellence. Provide coaching of area staff.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree, preferably in business and/or healthcare management or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the caregiver with the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job

  • Preferred: Master's degree in business or healthcare management

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years Required: Supervisory/leadership oversight experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years Required: Clinic and/or clinical operations experience.

  • Preferred: Prefer experience in an integrated hospital/physician group setting working with physician leadership and broad base of providers

Credentials

  • Required: For licensed and/or certified/registered clinician, must have a current registration/certification or license in State

  • Required Upon Hire: Basic Life Support

Skills

  • Strong problem solving, decision making, team building, process improvement leadership and time management skills. (Required)

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal. (Required)

  • Proficient in the use of computers including Microsoft Office applications. Familiarity with software implementations and upgrade processes. (Required)

  • Strong financial management skills including analytical skill and familiarity with benchmarking financial, operational performance and business planning. (Required)

  • Embrace and promotes teamwork. (Required)

  • Knowledge and experience with continuous improvement techniques and methodologies. (Required)

  • Demonstrated competence in developing business plans for new services and capital equipment. (Required)

  • Skill and practical experience with recruitment processes. (Required)

Department / Location Specific Notes

St. Joseph Medical Center:

  • Position may support the following programs: Acute Care Surgery, Intensivists, Pediatric Hospitalist, OB Hospitalist. Matrix reporting to Director of PHMG, Nursing Directors for Divisions supported.
