JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State World Campus Student Affairs is in search of a student-focused , team-oriented Student Engagement Coordinator. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in building community with college students across a wide variety of backgrounds, heritages, and identitie s . This position works to mostly support online student s with periodic in-person gatherings and events .

The Student Engagement Coordinator works closely with the Assistant Director of Student Engagement in the design, implementation, delivery, and evaluation of the holistic development of World Campus students through community building and creating a sense of belonging for students. The coordinator will develop, implement, and monito r programs, initiatives, and events that foster engagement and build a sense of c ommunity for all World Campus students . This position will also be a lead f or diversity, equity, and inclusion student programming. The coordinator is also responsible for leading the operational support, management, recognition, and training for World Campus recognized student clubs and organizations .

The Student Engagement Coordinator responsibilities include:

  • Recognized Student Clubs/ Organizations: Advis ing , supporting, and providing developmental opportunities and training for student clubs and organizations and student engagement board . This includ es recruit ing, select ing , and orientat ing new board members, hosting new student club/ organization orientation, supporting the recognition process for new org anizations , helping them maintain their recognition, leading advisor training and support , and provid ing administrative oversight for these activities. Manag ing student organization funding requests and financial allocations.

  • Student Programming: Develop ing , implement ing , and monitor ing programs, initiatives, and events that foster belonging and community building for students. Lead ing MLK program planning along with other diversity , equity, and inclusion focused months and celebrations in collaboration with the student engagement board . Coordinat ing fall and spring involvement fairs. Lead ing student engagement marketing and promotion of events and programming.

  • Club Advisor: Serv ing as a co- advisor for a club/organization (like World Campus Homecoming or World Campus benefiting THON) and advisor for student engagement board.

  • Affinity Groups: Support ing affinity populations such as first-generation, BIPOC, LGBTQ+ with regular programming and group connection opportunities. Collaborat ing with partners to share information and access to these affinity groups for students. Creat ing an affinity council to represent students in matters related to the student experience and to further inform services and drive student success.

    Additional Position Information: This is a hybrid position with one day a week in the office at University Park, PA. Work hours will vary based on student programs, meetings, and events which may include periodic evenings and/or weekends. This position requires the following clearances: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check.

    Education : Minimum requirement is a Bachelor’s degree with at least one year of related professional, volunteer, or internship experience . Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's degree is preferred in higher education, student affairs, c ounselor e ducation, counselor education, h uman d evelopment and f amily s cience, or related field with at least one year of related experience .

  • a collaborative , compassionate leader who inspires confidence and trust

  • understanding of intersecting identities that include, but are not limited to, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, and socio-economic status

  • experience working with students in a higher education setting

  • project management experience

  • ability to manag e difficult and complex situations

  • c urrent knowledge of principles/practices of student development theory

  • a bility to work cooperatively with others within a multidisciplinary team environment, evidence of effective collaborative relationships with students, faculty, and staff

  • experience developing student program s and assessment

  • ability to inspire and nurture a climate of inclusiveness, collegiality, and shared responsibility

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$42,100.00 - $61,000.00
