JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Physics (http://science.psu.edu/physics) at The Pennsylvania State University (http://psu.edu) is seeking to fill up to two Postdoctoral positions in the areas of quantum material thin films and devices, or devices involving superconductor with graphene and other 2D materials, or ferroelectric devices.

The successful candidate will lead in one of the areas of synthesis and quantum transport measurement of two-dimensional electron gas at transition metal oxide interfaces, or devices involving superconductors interfaced with topological materials, graphene, and 2D materials, or ferroelectric devices. The project involves fabrication of thin films and nanofabrication, low temperature and high magnetic field measurement, and device fabrication and characterization.

The ideal candidate should have very good knowledge and experience in one or two areas in superconductivity, quantum materials, quantum transport, or ferroelectric devices. Technical experience in some of these areas of epitaxial growth of thin films using pulsed-laser deposition, sputtering deposition, photo- and electron beam lithography, and measurements at low temperature and high magnetic fields are strongly desired.

Requirements include a Ph.D. in physics, materials physics, or related fields.

Applications must be submitted electronically and include a cover letter, CV and statement of research interests. Applicants should arrange for three reference letters to be submitted to qil1@psu.edu indicating the appropriate job number in the subject line.

This is a term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with possibility of refunding. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until a suitable candidate is found.
