JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology (https://www.huck.psu.edu/institutes-and-centers/center-of-excellence-in-industrial-biotechnology) is seeking a talented and energetic Education Program Specialist - Advanced Professional. Working closely with the Center's Associate Director, the Education Program Specialist will deliver a consistent sequence of market-relevant workshops and other educational opportunities that meet program targets. Established in 2018, the Center of Excellence in Industrial Biotechnology (CoEIB) works across Penn State to provide educational experiences designed to prepare company representatives and undergraduate and graduate students to contribute to the dynamic field of biotechnology.

The Education Program Specialist will advance the Center's mission of:

  • Creating a pipeline of talent for the dynamic, rapidly growing field of biotechnology by capitalizing on one of Penn State's most significant differentiators—the size and breadth of its student populations.

  • Delivering workshops for internal and external stakeholders that prepare them to have an impact on the work they are doing.

  • Discovering, assessing, and deploying educational programs that are unique and world class.

The Education Program Specialist will identify, develop, manage, deliver, and evaluate workforce development programs and related materials, as well as consult and assess client needs. The successful candidate will prepare recommendations for ongoing and proposed programs and maintain internal and external relationships, ensuring that our workforce development programs remain relevant.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Determine curriculum objectives and education-related performance competencies.

  • Develop and update course materials, as well as monitor, update, and disseminate program and course information .

  • Complete the required documentation necessary to support registrations, payments, cancellations, and contract requirements.

  • Create and implement marketing plans that effectively engage and promote educational programs and services (e.g., website content, presentations, communication channels).

  • Monitor budgets and assist in the development of program budgets to meet income and program targets. In addition, the Education Program Specialist may identify funding sources and assist in application and administration of gifts and grants.

  • Develop program assessment tools to evaluate program outcomes, review for gaps or issues, and make recommendations for improvements.

  • May identify and recruit instructional program personnel.

  • Complete other duties as assigned to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and support our workforce development objectives.

Requirements and Qualifications:

This position requires a bachelor's degree and 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. What excites us about a candidate is knowledge of a range of effective learning platforms, experience with project management, and personal initiative to identify opportunities to expand or enhance the Center's workforce development impact. The successful candidate should demonstrate expertise in biotechnology while identifying, delivering, managing, and evaluating programs from conception to evaluation. Excellent writing and communication skills are essential, not only for working with the CoEIB and its campus collaborators, but for creating and delivering messaging that sets our workshops apart from other organizations delivering similar programs. Strong PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills will aid you greatly in this role.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$56,200.00 - $81,500.00
