JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

An Assistant Research Professor (non-tenure track) position is available immediately at The Pennsylvania State University (https://psu.edu) . The successful candidate will perform research in collaboration with the Ferrari lab (http://theferrarilab.com) and Shea lab (http://kshealab.wordpress.com/) in The Center for Infectious Disease Dynamics (http://cidd.psu.edu) . The successful candidate will lead research on an National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project to develop optimal surveillance/monitoring and control strategies for infectious disease in resource constrained settings. The successful candidate will develop independent research and contribute to a multi-institution project studying endemic foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) in Turkey and developing monitoring and control strategies for endemic FMD in low-income countries. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to contribute to ongoing projects on surveillance for COVID-19, measles, and rubella.

Education and Experience

Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (such as ecology, statistics, mathematics, epidemiology, veterinary epidemiology, physics), at least three years of Postdoctoral research experience, a strong interest in dynamical systems, and a history of productivity. Familiarity with R is preferred, though the successful candidate will have freedom to develop analyses and models in the language in which they are most proficient. Experience in communicating quantitative analyses to a non-technical audience and experience working with large collaborative groups is an advantage.

This is a term appointment funded for one year from date of hire, with excellent possibility of extension.
