JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

We are searching for an ERP Systems Architect to join our Applied Enterprise Systems team of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. This position will support ongoing projects for the US Army and US Navy enterprise systems leadership. This work develops custom applications and capabilities to support the warfighter in supply and maintenance processes using a variety of tools.

You will:

  • Assist in concept development and participate in the design analyses of engineering systems independently evaluating, selecting, and applying scientific or engineering procedures and techniques to assignments

  • Identify problems and related technical issues leading to long term, generic solutions

  • Identify technical approach for solving problems and meeting customer/grantor needs

  • Plan and perform tasks of a larger scope and lead specific tasks within the project scope

  • Assemble research teams for papers, proposals, presentations and reports

  • Interact in a collaborative manner with other team members to accomplish organizational goals

  • Provide ideas to improve organizational efficiency at group and department levels

  • Make significant contributions to technical proposal preparation and/or presentations

  • Mentor assigned staff in the development of technical, project, and business development skills

This position will be filled at the advanced professional or senior professional level, depending upon your education and experience. Minimally requires of a Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Science discipline plus 5 years’ related experience for the advanced professional level. Additional education and or experience required for higher level positions. A Master’s Degree is preferred.

Additional responsibilities for the senior professional level include:

  • Manage multiple or large projects; plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the work of a major project or in a total project of moderate steps

  • Create opportunities to enhance technical methodology or content through expansion of existing or development of new efforts; may extend technology into new application areas; contribute or lead in intellectual development activities

  • Provide innovative problem-solving approaches to enhance organizational capabilities; use peer network to expand technical capabilities and identify new research opportunities

  • Understand broad strategic objectives and contribute to them; nurtures and maintain relationships with major customers/grantors of external research and development grant funding

  • Identify grant/project follow-on work and persuade customers/grantors to fund; impact customer decisions and strategies

  • Initiate new project concepts and seek funding; develop technical proposals and make presentations to customers/grant sponsors

  • May chair sessions at technical meetings; give papers and/or presentations; participate in external seminars, workshops, professional societies and committees

Required skills/experience areas include:

  • Experienced in architecting and configuring SAP S/4 Hana (or similar) to our defense industry

  • Demonstrated experience working in interdisciplinary teams to define and build logistics processes in SAP

  • Working with logistics related IT systems for DoD customers

  • Collecting and managing requirements from multiple stakeholders and successfully delivering capability

  • Writing reports/documentation and presenting to an executive audience

  • Ability to travel to multiple sponsor locations throughout the U.S

  • Technical writing proficiency is critical

Preferred skills/experience include:

  • Application development using low or no-code solutions to generate Java-based applications in business systems

  • Deploying new applications in complex network environments

  • Awareness of industry-standard security protocols, testing, and related requirements

  • Developing applications within or integrated to SAP S/4HANA

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$109,300.00 - $191,000.00
