Virgin Galactic Configuration Manager I in Tustin, California

The Product Configuration Manager will be responsible for the release of Engineering deliverables, such as engineering drawings, production work instructions, engineering specifications, documents, and company processes and procedures. The Configuration Manager will manage the engineering baseline for each of the vehicle designs in the TSC PLM database, defining the effectivity of each change within a configured assembly. The Product Configuration Manager will be responsible for assigning and managing the export control classification for each configured item, participate as a member of the Configuration Change Board for all changes to the released baseline for each vehicle configuration, participate in Configuration Audits as the Program Configuration Manager (i.e. PCA, FCA, and Baseline Configuration Audits) as requested by the Program or Customer. The Product Configuration Manager will provide support on the development, training, and maintenance of program configuration management processes and procedures and tools, manage the CM queue, assigning tasks to the Document Control Analysts as required. Resolve system and user issues or errors with engineering documentation or within the system databases. Continually work to identify process enhancements for known gaps in functionality of the current tools and processes, and participate in the assessment, planning, and rollout of system upgrades for PLM and CAD tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs day to day configuration management activities related to identification, control, release, and status accounting for engineering documents in accordance with customer contractual requirements and Company policy.

  • Participates in reviewing engineering documentation changes with engineering, quality assurance, and manufacturing to ensure compliance with configuration management and customer requirements, and company policy.

  • Assign Export Control requirement for each configuraed item.

  • Manage effectivty for each change to the configued Assembly.

  • Manage the engineering baselines in the TSC PLM database, and participate as a member of the Change Control Board for all major changes to the baseline configuration.

  • Provide training and support to new employees, and resolve user issues related to engineering documentation and related databases.

  • Work with IT and external support functions to troubleshoot and resolve system database and interface errors for the PLM, PIP, and Oracle databases.

What You Bring

Educational Requirements:

  • B.S. Degree preferred (or combination of education and experience equivalent)

  • CMII Certification preferred.

K nowledge/Experience:

  • Experienced working with electronic Product Lifecycle Management systems

  • Experience implementing and maintaining configuration management and document control processes

  • Problem Solving and Conflict ResolutionStrong statistical analysis skills preferred

Professional Requirements:

  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and written communication skills

  • Team player with excellent communication skills both verbal and written

  • Must be self-motivated and capable of working with some supervision, adaptable to changing environments, and able to handle multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $55,400.00–$80,300.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
