Background:

Caterpillar Financial is Caterpillar’s wholly owned captive financier, head quartered in Nashville, Tennessee. Our mission is to help our customers, dealers and Caterpillar succeed through financial services solutions. Caterpillar Mining Finance is a global team within the Structured Finance business unit of Cat Financial and is responsible for facilitating the mining equipment financing requirements of Caterpillar’s Resource Industry customers through the use of structured equipment finance and corporate debt facilities. Customers include global mining houses, mining services providers and junior/startup mining companies.

Based out of the Tullamarine office in Melbourne, this position works predominantly with Caterpillar’s key global mining clients in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. The role will focus on developing business opportunities that support Caterpillar mining equipment and aftermarket sales.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Working independently, the role will be required to originate opportunities, prepare financial proposals, negotiate terms and conditions, conduct due diligence, manage the credit approval and overall document execution process, and manage the ongoing customer relationship.

SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

A strong background in relationship management at the “C” suite level, leasing and equipment finance, as well as experience originating new business opportunities and meeting sales targets. Project and structured finance, corporate loans and syndications as well as experience in the mining industry will be a distinct advantage. An appropriate university degree together with a minimum of 7 years relevant experience is required.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Degree in Commerce or related discipline

  • Relevant work experience in mining preferred

  • Proven track record in relationship management

  • Leasing and equipment finance experience

  • Credit and portfolio management experience

  • Strong analytical and modelling skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

This role requires 25% domestic and some international travel.
