The Boeing Test & Evaluation (BT&E) organization is seeking an Associate Equipment and Tool Designer to join our team in Tukwila, WA. The selected candidate will be responsible for design and fabricate prototype and test parts, utilizing multiple technologies across traditional machining and additive methods. This role will investigate and develop basic to moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements. The selected candidate will participate in design reviews, collect design requirements, create and revise drawings and models to support the build plan. Self-checks design for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements will be completed. This role provides technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions. It will also maintain hardware and software configuration, as well as support the disposition of equipment and tooling and user training development.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Investigate and develop basic to moderately complex equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements

  • Participate in design reviews, collects design requirements, creates and revises drawings and models to support the build plan

  • Create specifications, purchase requests and usage instructions for equipment and tooling

  • Self-check designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements

  • Develop and document equipment and tooling inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and supports user training development

  • Provide technical support for engineering changes and discrepancies by investigating problems and analyzing data to identify solutions

  • Maintain hardware and software configuration

  • Support the disposition of equipment and tooling

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Associate's degree or related certification and 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience

  • 1+ years of CAD/CAM programming experience (using an offline programming system such as UniGraphics, CATIA, MasterCam etc.)

  • 1+ years of experience with Additive Manufacturing technologies

  • 1+ years of design experience

  • 1+ years of experience in prototyping

  • 1+ years of experience with precision measurement equipment

  • Experience interpreting model-based engineering or 2D engineering drawings to develop technical illustrations

  • Experience with engineering processes, regulatory and post production support

  • Basic understanding of handheld power tools (saw, wrench, hammer, drill, etc.) and their uses, and/or have relevant experiences in using those tools

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience in additive manufacturing technology (part or tooling R&D/design/fabrication/test)

  • Experience spray painting (on the job or in an educational environment)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years’ related work experience, etc.)

Relocation:

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $56,950 – $77,050
