We have a great opportunity for a Principal Specialist, Contracts within the Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) Strategic Business Unit. In this role, you will be responsible for helping guide, manage, and administer a variety of development and sustainment contracts within the Missile Defense Agency portfolio, within our Integrated Missile Defense Systems Segment.

The position will be well suited for a highly motivated, well-organized person who enjoys working in an exciting, collaborative team environment and working a high number of contract actions. Enablers for success include being able to effectively multitask; familiarity with DoD contracting; and demonstration of good communication skills to be able to interface with all levels of internal and external customers.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Analyze Requests for Proposals (RFP) and negotiate contracts, ensuring that negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies

  • Conduct proposal reviews, general contract administration support and coordinate customer responses

  • Review Estimates at Completion (EAC)

  • Support program management and execution reviews

  • Work closely with the Portfolio Directors, Program Managers, Chief Engineers, Business/Estimating, and Supply Chain to construct, submit and negotiate pricing proposals

  • Provide guidance to senior stakeholders regarding contractual & business issues, rights & obligations and possible mitigation of contractual/program risks

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • Experience in contracts/ subcontracts administration, proposal preparation or other account management/ finance/procurement/legal/program management experience including negotiations, and/or sales

  • Experience in Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, or PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active and transferable Secret clearance preferred

  • Knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS)

  • Contractual acumen with proficiency in contracts fundamentals

  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with customers and internal partners based on understanding, teamwork, and trust

  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment, where prioritization is required to be effective

  • Proven record of responsiveness with excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Professional, effective written and verbal communication skills to interface with internal and external customers

Work Locations (Hybrid):

Tucson, AZ - This position is a hybrid role, and the selected applicant will work with the hiring manager to set schedule. Relocation assistance is not available.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
