Salary Grade: 22 Pay Range Full Range: \$155,453 - \$233,180 Annually Salary offers are based on the candidate\'s equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The Pima County Health Department is actively seeking a dedicated Public Health Physician to join our team.In this position, you will play a crucial role in the leadership and coordination of public health initiatives related to epidemiology, clinical care, and quality improvement. This role involves providing medical expertise, guiding clinical strategies, and implementing evidence-based practices to promote the health and well-being of the community.

This classification is in the unclassified service and is exempt from the Pima County Merit System Rules.

Duties/Responsibilities (Work assignments may vary depending upon the department\'s needs and will be communicated to the applicant or incumbent by the supervisor.)\

  • Performs direct patient care services to include medical/dental evaluations, patient histories, physical examinations, consultations and provision of direct treatment, therapies and/or other medical/dental interventions, as required of a Primary Care Provider (PCP) or consultant;
  • Supervises, trains and evaluates allied health professionals, e.g., physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, nurses, etc.;
  • Assists in directing the organization, staffing, and implementation of public health and/or medical and/or dental care services within the department;
  • Coordinates the professional staffing of an assigned clinic or service through other County resources and contracted health-care providers;
  • Writes reports and gives lectures to include the conducting of medical/dental training of medical/dental students/interns;
  • May serve as department director in their absence.
Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine as a Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), completion of an approved internship and residency ,andsix years of professional medical experience.   1. Minimum six (6) years of professional medical experience.
  2. Master\'s degree in a health-relatedarea.
  3. Minimum two (2) years working in a public health department, school of public health, or comparable public health exposure.
  4. Experience in quality improvement initiatives.
  5. Minimum one (1) year of Epidemiology experience.
