Here’s Where You Come In

The Middle & Large Commercial Lines Operations Manager is a strategic leader responsible for contributing to the regional Middle & Large Commercial Lines (CL) Leadership Team. This role drives operational efficiencies aligned with our overall strategic vision. You will design, implement, and oversee policy and procedural improvements. You will assist Team Leaders in monitoring operations throughout the Middle & Large Commercial business segment and seek ways to increase productivity and responsibly allocate resources.

Job Responsibilities:

Regional Leadership Contribution:

  • Join the regional Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic allocation plan for people, technology, and outsourcing capabilities.

  • Communicate and champion the goals, vision, and procedures established by the CL leadership team.

  • Collaborate with leaders in HUB’s Small Commercial and Personal Lines operations, as well as non-P&C channels, to ensure consistency and enhance cross-sell opportunities.

  • Meet regularly with super-regional and national resource teams including claims, risk control, accounting/billing, and others to ensure successful utilization in HUB’s MI and IN operations.

  • Identify potential challenges, address points of friction, and work towards solutions to improve efficiency and employee engagement, ultimately driving organic revenue growth.

Operational Consistency and Technology Optimization:

  • Develop and monitor auditing processes to ensure procedural consistency among staff.

  • Work towards the development of procedures and systems for utilization across the entire HUB organization.

  • Develop best practices for leveraging technology platforms and tools to enhance operational efficiency.

  • Facilitate training for employees on duties, expectations, standards, policies, and conduct regular audits as per standards.

  • Collaborate with Team Leaders and the Director of Human Resources to drive cultural alignment in accordance with our People Processes within the CL channel.

  • Support the integration of newly acquired agencies, including the development of integration plans and timelines.

Performance Management:

  • Act as the direct manager to shared resource personnel, including policy checking, surety, and legal review specialists.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews for all direct reports.

Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in a relevant field preferred.

  • 10+ years of relevant industry experience; agency experience preferred.

  • 5+ years of leadership experience.

  • Experience leading and managing agency staff highly desirable.

  • Active Licenses: Property and Casualty required; Life, Accident, Health, and HMO desired.

  • Attainment of an advanced professional designation desired (e.g., AAI, ARM, CIC, CPCU).

  • Ability to travel 20% of the time to outer offices and clients, with occasional overnight travel required.

  • Strong financial acumen.

  • Big picture thinking to address leadership concerns and develop the best path forward, utilizing available data.

  • Thorough understanding of general financial and budgeting processes and principles, with the ability to find areas of potential improvement.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to find a balance between a variety of job duties and projects.

  • Healthy interpersonal skills to clearly communicate with both leadership and staff for the seamless integration of new policies and procedures.

  • Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.

  • Competent use of standard office tools/software (e.g., MS Office).

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
