Great Lakes Environmental Center, Inc. UCMR Laboratory Technician (limited term) in Traverse City, Michigan
Great Lakes Environmental Center, Inc. (GLEC) is recruiting candidates for a two-year, 80%-time benefited entry level laboratory technician position at our headquarters in Traverse City, Michigan supporting the implementation of the fifth cycle of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule program (UCMR5). GLEC is an established employee-owned contract research firm that is a national leader in protecting aquatic environmental resources through work for federal, state, industrial, and non-profit organizations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist with UCMR5 sampling kit preparation and shipment. Specific tasks may include:
- weighing chemicals into sample bottles for the preservation of drinking water samples to be analyzed for the UCMR5 contaminants,
- compiling UCMR5 sampling kit components,
- packing sampling kits following GLEC procedures for shipment to public water systems (PWSs),
- deconstructing returned sampling kits.
- Strongly adhere to quality assurance/quality control and data integrity protocols.
*Secondary Responsibilities: *
- Support other UCMR5 operations, as needed.
- Support other GLEC laboratory and field sampling operations, as needed
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline with 4 credits of college-level Chemistry.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Collaboration and organizational skills, and team work ethic.
- Fluent in Microsoft Office programs and Google drive applications.
