The Regional Forensic Psychiatric Center (RFPC) at Torrance State Hospital is in need of Forensic Security Employee Trainees (FSETs) to provide oversight and patient care to those committed to the RFPC. This position provides non-professional nursing care for patients with varying degrees of emotional and physical disabilities with responsibility for maintaining a therapeutic, secure environment. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As an FSET, you are trained on, expected to demonstrate, and expected to apply all applicable policies and procedures. You complete all competencies required within the training programs phase book with verification by the FSE Trainer, FSE2, and FRNS. You must also always comply with maintaining the Patient's Bill of Rights.

Tasks include patient care duties such as collecting urine specimens, monitoring and documenting intakes and outputs, obtaining and recording vital signs, weights, and heights, monitoring soaks, and providing skin care and basic nursing care as instructed.

You work closely with patients to accomplish day-to-day living activities and self-care skills. You provide assistance and guidance based on individual patient needs, incorporate daily routines to meet individual patient treatment plans, and actively engage patients in a therapeutic manner by following clinical methods developed by the treatment team. In addition, you monitor and provide emotional support for patients in both individual and group settings and act as an individual patient advocate to assigned patients.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Work hours during training are - 1st shift (7:00 AM to 3:30 PM); and after training - 2nd shift (3:00 PM - 11:30 PM). Work days are 10 out of 14 days in a two-week period.
