Moneris Sr. Enterprise Risk Management Specialist (Hybrid) in Toronto, Canada

Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

You will support our Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Program which manages multiple 2nd Line of Defense areas, including Enterprise Risks assessment and reporting, Operational Risk Management and Third-party Risk Management. This role partners with the ERM Leadership Team (Manager and Director) and different business owners, including senior leadership, to mature these programs and ensure appropriate standards and procedures are developed and implemented across the organization.

You are required to have expertise in ERM and good grasp of different business functions and their best practices to engage with and challenge them constructively. In doing so, you are expected to exercise sound judgment guided by your professional skills and experience, policies and standards, stated risk appetites, industry best practices, and established Risk Management Frameworks. Identify and escalate items that are outside or trending to be outside the stated risk appetite or lead to inefficient or ineffective control environment is important.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto office and will work in a Hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship : You will report to the Manager, Enterprise Risk Management.

Your Moneris Career - What you'll do

  • Lead Risk and Controls Self-Assessment (RCSA) workshops with business teams (senior leadership/MLT) to identify risks and controls across different processes and establish process level risk registers.

  • Perform detailed controls testing to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and standards.

  • Liaise with different teams (senior leadership/MLT) across the enterprise to gather operational risk inputs and reports, identification of operational loss incidents and near misses, conducting root cause analysis, and development of risk mitigation plans.

  • Independently manage the process for periodic monitoring and follow-up on mitigation actions for from different risk assessments and internal audit findings, including testing for effective closure of actions and prepare management reports.

  • Partner with ERM Leadership Team to drive assessments and enhancements of Risk Management frameworks and standards, processes, and tools to meet the changing requirements.

  • Support the ERM Manager in undertaking periodic risk reviews with the business against a background of the agreed risk appetite and analyzed based on appropriate scenario analyses and Key Risk Indicators.

  • Partner with the ERM Manager to undertake risk assessments for projects, strategic and change initiatives and coordinate with the business teams to identify risk mitigation actions.

  • Support the ERM Leadership Team with periodic reviews and enhancements of Risk Indicators (KRI) for Enterprise Risks, and ensure accuracy of Key Risk Indicators reporting

  • Partner with the ERM Leadership Team to implement Third-Party Risk Management processes including enhancements to standards, procedures, tools and techniques to meet the changing requirements.

  • Support the implementation and management of the Risk Management modules (ERM, TPRM, Policies and Issues management) in the Governance Risk and Compliance (GRC) system, with our Agile methodology and act as the functional administrator for the risk management modules of the GRC system.

Your Moneris Career - What you bring

  • 5 + years' experience in controls and risk self assessments, root cause analyses, and knowledge of enterprise risk management programs

  • Bachelor's degree in a Business, Commerce, Finance or a related field of study

  • Professional accounting designation or an MBA are assets

  • In depth working knowledge of the ISO 31000 or the COSO integrated enterprise risk management framework and industry best practices

  • Knowledge of IT and cyber risks or previous experience in payment industry considered an asset

  • Experience at a Big 4, large accounting firm or large public company in testing and reporting of risks and controls is a PLUS

  • Experience in business process and systems reviews or performance of Internal Audits

  • Advanced user experience with GRC systems is a definite asset

  • Experience with Agile methodology considered an asset

  • Strong time management skills, attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment
