Additional Information: This hotel is owned and operated by an independent franchisee, Larco Enterprises. The franchisee is a separate company and a separate employer from Marriott International, Inc. The franchisee solely controls all aspects of the hotel’s employment policies and practices, including hiring, firing, discipline, staffing, compensation, benefits, and all other terms and conditions of employment. Job Summary

What you'll do:

Prepare all event documentation and coordinates with Sales, Food & Beverage, other departments, and customer to ensure consistent, high-level service throughout the pre-event, event and post-event phases of property events. Support the Director of Food and Beverage/Events and serve as the event planner’s primary contact on property and is responsible for his/her experience.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • To ensure the Events functions meet with Marriott standards in respect to service and creativity.

  • Liaise with the on-property sales team as well as the MHS sales team on a daily basis to ensure a smooth sales/events/operations process.

  • Liaise with the Food & Beverage team.

  • Prepare the Events forecast, various monthly reports and assist with budget.

  • Leads by example, displays excellent customer service and communication skills.

  • Monitors group pick up and ensure group wash is accurate and up to date.

  • Monitor the function space daily in system to ensure maximum business and revenue potential.

  • Solve problems and /or suggest alternatives to previous arrangements if necessary.

  • Oversees the Event Satisfaction Survey Program for the hotel and motivate the department teams to produce results that meet the hotel goals.

  • Conducts pre and post event meetings as required to review/communicate group needs and feedback.

  • Ensures that all group bookings are kept up to date with regards to booking comments, events, event times and revenues.

  • Attends necessary weekly meetings (including but not limited to Department Head and Forecast meetings) to ensure the operations team is well informed of all upcoming groups.

  • Maintain high quality of service standards required by the hotel, brand and the management company.

  • Participates in customer site inspections and assists with the sales process when necessary.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Food & Beverage and Events.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Must have a minimum of three years of experience at the level of Event Manager.

  • Must have a minimum of five years hotel experience.

  • Sound knowledge of hotel services and banquet operations.

  • Graduate of a hospitality program an asset.

  • Professional attitude and appearance a must.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

  • Proven leadership and staff development skills required.

  • Proficiency in Marsha, CI/TY, Microsoft Windows and Excel.

  • Sales experience an asset.

  • Must be a creative self-starter, able to meet deadlines, work independently and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
