SMX is looking for a Senior SAFe Agile Coach who can help our client’s organization with their Agile plan and transition. The ideal candidate needs to work across a broad organization and will be required to help our client with developing their agile organization from the ground up. The Agile coach will be required to conduct an “As-Is” assessment for the application portfolio and provide recommendations for various Agile strategies depending on the type of development and support. They will support the client in developing their short/long term strategies to migrate their organization to SAFe Agile and assist the client in developing the strategic presentations to educate their business units and gain buy in from the Executive team. In addition, the candidate will need to help the client to establish an appropriate project management configuration and setup within the client’s Jira console in support of their Agile program . This is a remote position supporting a Boston, MA based team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess applications development as is scenarios.

  • Create a multi-year strategic plan and group applications portfolios with the proposed different Agile principles strategies.

  • Identify pilot approach for the plan, coach pilot groups, and measure success of the implementation and lessons learned.

  • Identify Agile DevOps strategy and create a plan.

  • Asses the current team and identify the role gaps.

  • Define Agile roles which are necessary for the client and aligning staff to appropriate Agile roles.

  • Accessing the team needs and advising on necessary coaching & training for the Agile team members of all spectrums. eg: Scrum Masters and Product Owners

  • Mentoring Agile teams to enable the transition to SAFe Agile. Guide teams to develop an agile mind set. Conflict resolution and impediment removal, as teams navigate and adapt to the new development process.

  • Support Client with SAFe Agile principles and methodologies.

  • Identify relevant metrics and define the Agile measurement system. Baseline current metrics before implantation and during the process. Produce monthly metrics report for key applications.

  • Provide Status report to client.

  • Improve engagement between teams and stakeholders.

  • Setup regular audits for measuring process readiness and adherence.

  • Identify project risks.

  • Assist teams with meeting pre-planning, scheduling, daily scrum, and retro & reviews.

  • Address team member questions.

  • Assist Business Owners in crafting user stories. Able to communicate with government business users.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Communications, Operations, Business, or Technology

  • Minimum 10+ years of combined business or technology experience within an Agile environment.

  • Expertise in SAFe Agile, Scrum and Kanban.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Team player who understands people's concerns.

Desired Experience:

  • Certifications: SAFe, ICP-ACC, PSPO 2 or A-CSPO, PSM 2 or A-CSM any relevant certification would be an added advantage.

  • Experience with government organizations specially Health and Human Services.
